From the discussions I've had with Cabela's, they only get an estimated ship date from the Mfr., and it usually slips from there.
But at least, they don't hit your card until they ship, and they will ship each item separately as they get them regardless of what you paid for shipping.
With Midway (I buy from them and like them too), but they ship all items together. So if you order an item on the shelf along with a backordered item, they hold the shipment until they get the backorderd item. Saves them shipping cost, but not as customer oriented as Cabela's.
To show you how short items are, I put in an email Reminder Notice for some brass with Midway. I got the notice today that the brass came in. When I called 2 minutes later, they said all the received brass had already been shipped. So if you want something, place the order so that you will be queued in line when it arrives - first in, first out!
