I've been thinking about my LCP lately, and while I like how easy it is to carry, I've got a few qualms...

1) Magazine Capacity - I feel more comfortable when I get into the double-digits, just in case I have multiple assailants (I'm not assuming 1 shot per attacker). Of course, this pretty much requires a double-stack. Luckily, I wear cargo shorts with a big front pocket.

2) "Stopping Power", or whatever you want to call it. Fact is, .380 is about the bare minimum of what people think you should have (myself included), and 9mm offers more.

3) Weight...the LCP is easy to carry because of the weight, but it is also a (insert explicative here) to shoot because it is so light and small. I think doubling the weight might help, even if the 9mm is a bit stronger. My shorts can support the weight of an XDM compact on a paddle holster without a belt, so I think they can support a G26.

Anyway, I was just curious if others had pocket carried a G26, specifically in cargo shorts, and how you felt it did.

Let me begin by stating that the baby glocks are not pocket guns. They are better off IWB or OWB.

However, I have pocket carried a G27 a few times. I used a desantis pocket holster. I would strongly recommend a good gun belt, as it will pull your pants down. It's pretty heavy to carry in the pocket. I stopped carrying it that way because my draw was a bit slow. A j frame in the pocket makes for a much faster draw.

IMHO the G26 is far too large to pocket carry. Putting it in, or more importantly, getting it out of the pockets of most pants I wear would be difficult at best. In loser pockets it is a big and heavy thing to have in there moving around. You might be able to manage it if all you wear is cargo shorts but then you could carry in a good IWB as well. I suggest investing in a quality holster. A good holster makes a world of difference in concealing and comfortably carrying a gun.

I have both a LCP and a G26 and I agree that the 26 is what I would greatly prefer to have if I ever had to defend myself.

The 26 in IWB or ankle holster might be a better place.
Having said that, I carried my G34 in my cargo pants pocket the other day. It's very doable. I'm finding out more and more that one mode of carry is not going to work all the time. With my 26 I would carry in my cargo pants if i'm just running out the door for a quick run to the store. IWB most other times and Ankle carry when clothing will not allow other modes.
I shoot the 26 so well I couldn't imagine carrying anything else.
Anyone within 50 yards is going to have a really bad day. I'm sure it will even shoot better than that I just haven't tested farther yet. I shot a sandal the other day stuck in the snow at 50 yards with the 26.

IWB I'm happy with my XDM. Ankle holster isn't concealed when I'm wearing shorts.

Yeah lol, I thought I was crazy too when I read that. A glock 34 in the pants pocket?

Yeah I did. It fit just fine. I have duluth trading co's firehose jeans. They have nice big pockets. It's not the most comfy thing in the world. My 26 is back at glock getting some new sights and ejector. So I've been carrying my 34 in my crossbreed IWB holster. The grip is kinda tough to hide but not too bad.

I carried a G27 (same gun, different caliber) in a cargo pant pocket and didn't like it in that role. Although I used a pocket holster to break up the outline, it still "printed" visibly, looking much like a thick paperback novel. Moreover, the size and contour of the grip left almost no room for me to get my fingers around it. There is a big difference between practical, continuous pocket carry and sticking the gun in your pocket for short times and distances.

The G26 works fine for pocket carry with pants that have large pockets. I occasionally carry mine in Dockers or Woolrich tactical elite pants. I use a DeSantis Nemesis and a rag to break up the outline. Works great.

Dude. That's sweet that you can carry a G34 in your pants pocket. Just honestly didn't think that was possible. I need to buy myself a pair of these jeans. If you don't mind my asking, how much do they usually run, price-wise?

I've pocket carried my G27 in the cargo pocket and even front pocket of my cargo shorts and cargo pants. It feels like I'm carrying a brick in my pocket, I much prefer waist carry.

I wouldn't recommend pocket carrying the G34. It prints and shows that you have something in there. I don't think anyone will ever tell its a gun as the firehose pants are heavy duty. Lifetime warranty if you rip them or stain them. They aren't cheap. Like $60. http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-pants/92204.aspx
I didn't mean for this to be a plug for duluth trading co, but their customer service is unbelievable.
Oh I was saying... I wouldn't recommend carrying the G34 in their as you can't use a pocket holster. I don't think it's a good idea to pocket carry without a holster.

W.E.G., you know they make holsters designed to go in your pocket, right?

I was kinda tempted to get a pocket holster for my XDm compact, but it's a bit bigger than the Glock 26 and about 1.5 times as heavy. Unfortunately, I have to wait for the funds for whatever I decide...

I could carry my XD40 subcompact in the rather large front pockets of my old BDU pants, but I didn't like it and only tried it once. Too big and too heavy. G26/XD-SC sized guns aren't really "pocket" guns in my mind, though you'll find a few here and there that use them as such. Better to just get a good IWB holster and get used to carrying like that.

curiously enough today i had my g26 in a pancake holster and just for the hell of it i put the entire thing in my jeans pocket..to my surprise it fit..slid right in and was in position for an easy draw too. weird cause id have never though it would fit lol

The G26 is my EDC, but I could not see it as a pocket carry. I have pocket carried .380's-the G26 is too fat. It will fit in baggy pockets but not an option for me. A good IWB (MTAC) is the setup for me.

I've dropped my 27 in a pocket if I'm just going to the mailbox or something but normally it gets carried in an HBE Com 3. If I have to pocket carry I use my 642.

When I hear "pocket carry" I automatically assume "just shoved in pocket."

I guess if you have some sort of pocket holster, you're better off than just shoving the gun in a pocket.

By the time I have something that big in my jeans pocket, I'd much rather have it on my belt.

I have one of those pocket holster thingies for a Kel-Tec P32.
I hate the way it feels in my pocket.
As for the draw, well its a misnomer to call it a draw.
More like a contortion, and hope I don't drop it.

I've tried my P2000sk before in front pocket but didn't care for it. Its possible with big pockets but even with baggy pants its a very large bulge. I do however carry a Ruger LC9 in the front pocket fairly often.

"You see I'm the only person professional enough to carry a glock in my pocket"
"uh oh I'm hit!" lol

Seriously I have put my 26 in my front pocket. My cargo pocket would be fine but ut swings around like a dumbbell and hits me in the knee when I walk. So I prefer aiwb.

Been pocket carrying a G26 for the past 7 years. At first, I was using the Uncle Mike's pocket holsters, but got tired of replacing them every year. Switched to the DeSantis Nemesis and haven't looked back.

To carry the G26 this way, you need to make some special considerations. You need to buy pants with big pockets. This needs to be a primary focus when shopping. I stick my hands in the pockets and try to spread out my fingers. This gives me immediate feedback. You also need a good belt. A gun belt. having a belt made with CCW in mind goes a long way to keeping your pants from drooping, and this also includes IWB carry.

I guess if you wear cowboy-tight pants and use cheapo, thin, faux leather belts, you won't be able to pocket carry a G26. If you are one who has adapted your lifestyle to accommodate your CCW needs, then you can do it no problem.
