Looking at a DPMS AR10. Something with 18"-20" bull bbl, A3 upper, free floating handguard.
First off, Armalite, Inc. owns the label "AR10" and defends it vigorously. I don't work for them but I do respect the engineering work they put into their .308 AR-10 and so I personally use that label only for their product.
Having said that, I own a DPMS LR-308B. This is an 18" .308 AR with a free floated bull barrel, carbine length gas and fixed A2 buttstock. It's a nice gun, and is very affordable for what it is - you can find them for just $925 here:

The DPMS .308 platform is hands down the most bang for the buck in accuracy. 1 MOA or less is pretty much the norm with their free-floated-barrel models and quality ammo. There is good and growing aftermarket support for them, and magazine options from at least three companies (DPMS, Magpul, CProducts) all of which in my experience do actually work.
I am a former owner of a PTR-91, and for fear of being labeled as having a vendetta, I'll leave it at that. You can look up my old posts on it if you want to. And without a doubt a PTR-91 is several steps higher quality than a Hesse.
Sometime this year CMMG should be coming out with a complete .308 AR rifle on the DPMS pattern. I will be looking at them closely when they come out since I like CMMG and expect the features will offer options that DPMS doesn't currently offer, probably at a competitive price.
Bushhamster is supposed to be producing a .308 AR on the DPMS pattern this year as well. It appears to be basically a DPMS LR-308 except for (1) midlength gas and (2) chrome lined 4150 steel barrel. That's also interesting but I expect pricing will make it less interesting.
Armalite, Inc. makes an excellent product, and while the DPMS pattern has more market share the Armalite rifle is nicer in several respects, such as forged upper and lower receivers and a chrome-lined barrel. Armalite has also put a ton of genuine engineering work into making their AR-10 reliable and durable, and offers a lifetime warranty. I sometimes debate selling my LR-308 to get an AR-10. The DPMS is probably more accurate and is definitely less money, however.
