Never use red loc-tite on the buffer tube of an AR. To get the stuff to come loose you have to heat it up to about 400 degrees, which may raise hell with the aluminum of the rifle. Lacking heating it, you will have to use so much torque that you may bend the ring into which the buffer tube screws. Use blue loc-tite if you must. What about a wrap or two of teflon tape? I use nothing; just the right amount of torque.
