Aren't all 1911 owners Romantics?

Ok I will admit it, I sent my 1911 roses for valentine's day...and an anniversary card every year.

There is a reason the design has been around over a hundred years and copied over and over and over again. Over one hundred years of service and it's still the best defensive pistol in the world. Romance has nothing to do with it. It just works.

My wife says I'm a hopeless romantic and that's why she loves me but I carry a 1911 in .45 because it fits my hand, shoots well, and is reliable. I've never owned a plastic gun and don't want one. I'm happy for those people who prefer them. It leaves more Colt 1911's for me to covet. ;)

However, if you like .45, there are so many polymer double stacked pistols out there, like the XD or the FNX that offer you from 10 to 16 rounds of capacity, a modern operating system, lighter weight, etc.

Try living behind the iron curtain where you are limited to 10 round magazines. Suddenly the flat, full size 1911 makes a lot more sense. I have poly pistols too, but they don't conceal as easily as a 1911. YMMV.

Or worse yet NY where you can own revolvers that have a higher capacity than the law will allow semi autos...
