I got some strange and possibly dangerously badly manufactured ammo in a box of WWB .40S&W, I'd prefer to contact winchester first, I want to send them photos and store location and such, and see what they have to say before I really get into it here any more than that. I searched their site, but I'm finding it difficult to find anyone to contact. Any ideas ?

Winchester is a division of Olin. My quick look at the Winchester site didn't turn up a way to contact them directly. I assume that you looked more thoroughly, so here's a link for e-mailing Olin. http://www.olin.com/Contact/default.asp The recipient probably will get your message or you to Winchester.

Whoa.. a triple and a double there. THR must have had a hiccup. Thanks guys, I will try both of those. If there are any more suggestions ( like a phone number perhaps ? ), please keep them coming.

EDIT: Aha ! After using bru333's link to enter my conscerns , a page loaded with consumer info phone numbers. I'll try those as well.

Ah thanks. I didn't think to look at that since that isn't the ammo in question. All those resources should be sufficient I think. Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'll do a little write up on the issue at hand and winchester's response when it happens.

When winchester had their recall of their .22mag dynapoint ammo I had a partial box. I checked with my local gun dealer and he had 11 boxes. I showed him the recall notice and I asked him if he was gonna send it back to winchester. He said "no, I'm gonna sell it". I bought all he had and called winchester and told them what I did. They sent me a prepaid ups label and for my time and trouble they sent me a whole case (40boxes) of the .22 mag. dynapoint. Too bad it wasn't their .22 mag. supreme ammo, but what the heck, it's still good ammo.

351 WINCHESTER, did you have the receipt to send them ? I wondered if there was any point in even contacting them without one. The 100rd box of WWB in question is almost a month old and the receipt is long gone. Had no reason to open it till now.
Basically it's just one offending round. The bullet is crammed WAY back into the brass. Which of course could fire with dangerous pressure. Also odd is that the headtsamp on that round is ever so slightly different from the rest of the box. Its the same, but the lettering isn't as.. wide I guess you could say. Very odd. I took some good macro photos in the lightbox, but I'd like to send them to winchester and see what they say before posting it here.

No receipts needed, just had to be a certain lot number. Believe me, winchester wants to hear from you. Thank God you didn't shoot that round.

Thing is, I actually DID have it loaded. I was thinking I might try to go to the range tomorrow, so I was pre-emptively loading up some mags. I was paying attention to something else, and just loading fast letting my hands do the work. I did have the bad round in the mag, but happened to notice that it felt strange. I don't know if I would have had a problem or not had I fired it (or if it even would have chambered without a jam), but maybe I was lucky I didn't just throw another round on top fast. It's sort of the "maybe it was a close call" factor that made me want to contact them. Otherwise I might have just gotten rid of it and not bothered.
