At home: S&W 642 in pocket holster.
Outside the home: a pocketknife and a sturdy pen, because I don't yet have a CHL. That will change soon, though, as I took my CHL class this weekend (perfect scores on both the shooting test and the written exam, woohoo!). As my usual attire is lightweight slacks and a tucked-in shirt, I plan to tote the 642 or a Makarov in an inexpensive nylon IWB holster, in a homemade belly band. It seems like the best compromise for me in semi-formal attire in a very hot climate. Trebor, perhaps something similar could work for you, with your Mak?
I'll write up more about the belly band setup when I have a chance to test it away from home. One bonus is that the belly band can be used -- with the gun where legal, without the gun when travelling -- as a money belt.
Thanks, all. This has been educational and has given me some ideas to explore!
All my best,
Dirty Bob
