I'm not sure if this belongs in Activism or General...if incorrect, mod's please move.

But I started a new business recently (Civil Engineering/Surveying) and have been doing a LOT of marketing and business development lately. I ran into a guy running for the house and a guy running for judge. I let both of them go into their talk and after it's over...I asked the the guy running for the house how he felt about gun control (I wanted to ask this instead of asking about "gun rights" or "RKBA" because "gun control" is the term used by anti's). Well the guy was a Democrat and said that the NRA gave him a ranking of "A-". He also said that the incumbent had a C score from the NRA and the incumbent was a republican (which I usually vote for).

Now to keep this from being a political thread (which isn't allowed here)...I just want to know how I could check up on this to make sure the guy was accurate. He is not in the house now so he doesn't have a track record from voting...his score came from a questionnaire from the NRA.

Very similar...after the guy running for judge finished his talk, I asked how he felt about the Heller case in the Supreme court. I got a blank look. Then I said, the DC gun ban case that just got settled...he hemmed and hawed a bit and said that he felt the supreme court came to the right conclusion...but it's fairly obvious that the guy was not a big "pro-gun" guy... He probably doesn't care either way...but at least now he knows some of "us" do care about things like that.

In both cases...I try to ask the questions as neutral as possible or at least as if I was coming from the anti-camp because I wanted a truthful answer and not "lip service". After their response...I've simply told them that I was a CCW holder and was "just curious to what they thought".
