Beretta 92 owners?

The 92fs was the first gun I bought and it remains my favorite to shoot at the range. Soft recoil, super accurate, completely reliable and since installing a "D" spring the trigger is oh so sweet :D

Love mine! It's my favorite pistol - and I have a few.

Looks great, extremely SMOOTH operation, extremely reliable, plenty accurate.

People who dislike the 92FS because the army issues it and it's not a .45 are really missing out on a nice pistol.

I've had two - both have been completely reliable with all kinds of 9mm ammo. No problems at all.

Only dislike - big grip - but I can handle it fine. Buy with confidence if it fits your needs.

Random somewhat related question:

The word for "Stainless Steel" in at least Italian and Spanish (I've seen it on a few websites) is "Inox". Is that pronounced "EYE-nox" or "IN-ox"?

Knowing my luck, it'll be something weird like "EE-nucks" or some similar brand of sheer madness.

INOX
According to the Beretta Sales Rep it is pronounced "eye-nox". HTH

It's definitly pronounced "IN-ox" (like pIN).

"Inox" comes from the french word "inoxydable" which means "can't rust"

And I also love my 92 which is not INOX :)

Well...I'm embarrassed to say I've been pronouncing it wrong - like "eye-en-knocks" or course you could always just stay "stainless." :D

Never owned a Beretta 92 but have shot them here and there and find them to be solid performers. Being polished before final assembly gives them silk smooth operation. I don't understand why people complain about the grip, I have small to medium size hands hand find the grip fits like a glove. My only two complaints against them is their frame is aluminum (can't get the thought of pop cans and foil out of my mind) and they're alittle on the expensive side.

Yeah, I wish their all steel version was a little cheaper. I would love to have one. All steel construction, a frame mounted safety, and Beretta reliability make great pistol.

They're not as expensive as Sigs or H&Ks but the prices in general have gone up, especially in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. I have small piano hands so imagine how puzzled I was when people (guys) complain about the fat grip. Now I could carry any one of my Type Ms because they're compacts but it'd be tough for someone my size (5'2" 117 lbs) to carry the standard 92FS without anyone noticing.... ;)

I wouldn't pay $600 for any gun used. My shop was offering to sell the Glock 26 used, which I passed on. Since the Glocks have again been banned, I'm seeing used 26/27 selling easily at $699 and one modified 26 for over a thousand - seriously. It blows my mind why people would pay this for a used gun when you could buy a new Beretta for less, or a spankin new Sig which would both be better quality guns in my opinion. Don't get me wrong though, I want the 26 just not that bad. With anything, you have to keep your eye open and shop around for the best prices which vary by state, natually. I got my last compact M Beretta for $525 on Gun Broker and it was a great deal considering it would have cost much more in Massachusetts if I found one here. There's a used Cougar .40 which is selling for $600 for over a year now. I'd love it but I won't pay that much.

Everyone has already summed up the positive thoughts I have about my Beretta.

I have a Centurion in 9mm and it just doesnt stop working.

The Centurion could well be the GREATEST 9mm ever made!!

Of course thats just my opinion I could be wrong.

The Wolfe Trigger spring conversion and their performance Pak with the reduced hammer spring with a little hard arkansaw stoning to pivot points and a few swipes at 90 degress to sear to clean up burrs, degreaser, blow with air, lube with TW-25 or equivalent and can anybody say PYTHON?
I had a set of MMC fixed tritium sights put on and a set of Esmeralda thin cocbolo grips and the thing is THERE for times when a 1911 is not available/desireable. :D

Fine weapon if you have medium to large hands. Accurate, reliable, well made weapons. It's just too big in the grip for some folks. Although Beretta now makes a short trigger for it that helps. Their is always the Vertec for smaller hands. I would (and did) pay a little more and get a model with the heavier Brigidier slide. It's made for those who shoot competition (read made to handle lots of rounds). They are getting knocked around quite a bit by people on alot of the forums. Especially those being used in Iraq. Any problems can be traced to bad mags. And contrary to what you read I've spoken with alot of guys at my range who are in the reserves and have been over there and like the M9. People say it is bad to jam in sand. It may be but the particular sand in Iraq has a high silicate (read glass like) particles that are rough on any weapon. Don't forget the old Beretta 951 (the forerunner of the 92) was standard issue for both the IDF and Egypt for a long time. They know a thing or to about desert fighting! And besides the Sig the Beretta was the only other gun to survive the grueling U.S. service pistol trials of the time. Also many of the military weapons are now 20 years old. They probably need to be replaced.

Ooohhh Yeeaaahhh

I found this beautiful INOX version in a pawn shop. Someone had bought it, took it home to his wife, and was forced to return it at a loss. Almost been there myself. I got it for a great price. It shoots as good as it looks. Smooooth.

I also have an XD-9 Service and Glock 17. They are also good shooters - very reliable and accurate. However they are army Humvees and the Beretta is a Hummer H2.

I purchased a 92FS Police Special three days ago. First trip to the range was yesterday, it did 400 rounds malfunction free, and i was extremely surprised by the accuracy. Since it was just a trial run, I was plinking at pop cans, bottles, and clay pigeons from 25 yards, but hits were consistent. I'll be looking at a tough choice for carry this winter, as the Beretta performance competes easily with that of my USP's. However, choice is a nice problem to have when it comes to carry guns.

I recently bought a used Beretta 92FS and it has worked great so far. About two or three boxes of the Winchester bulk pack have gone through it so far and no problem with either normal capacity magazine or a checkmate magazine.

It is probably a little big than needed for the 9mm cartridge however I expect it to work for quite some time. It is very easy to field strip and clean.

great gun, one of the best!! For those who have a problem with the size for CCW there is the compact and the compact L (single stack); for those who complain about the DA/SA transition there are DAO slick slides only or SA variants; for those who complain about the mags, use originals or Mecgar; for those who complain about accuracy, learn to shoot- this is a very accurate weapon...

see ya..
