I have been a huge fan of the Beretta 92FS. My husband used it for his main carry as a police officer, and I learned to shoot with it...I want one, but the price is a little steep for me at this time. I came across the Taurus and it looks identical to the Beretta. It seems to be generally the same pistol, just different names.

Anyone have an opinion, or own one? (the taurus that is)..I know the 92 is a 9mm, and the 100SS is a .40

Well, the Taurus is in some ways an updated Beretta 92. I like the frame mounted safety on the Taurus a lot more than I like the slide mounted safety on the Beretta. Also, my Taurus came with a steel guide rod versus the plastic guide rod on the Beretta.

Where the Beretta wins out, in my opinion, is customer service. Taurus has had lots of problems of late fixing things when they go wrong.

In the end, after owning both in 9mm, I kept the Beretta.

thank you 357! I am going to rent it and see how I do with it. Like I said, my husband already owns the 92, so I can shoot that anytime, there is just something about owning your own

out of the 3 taurus pistols ive had :barf: one worked it was the 1911, while my beretta is flawless
the other two "92's" were best served as a 309718846_2931045cae.jpg

Beretta. I've owned the Taurus PT100 and carried the Beretta 92FC as a LEO. In fact I bought the Beretta when I retired. It shoots as well today as it did when it was issued new twenty years ago. The Taurus was a good, less expensive hand gun but it was not, by any means, a Beretta.

The Taurus would probably suit your needs alright, but I can guarantee you that if you don't spend the little extra for what you actually want you'll regret it later.

As already mentioned keep an eye on Summitgunbroker.com He has police trade ins for $349. He is out right now, but has more on the way.

I actually own a PT 92 I looks like cheaply made junk to me , the DA trigger pull is a M I L E L O N G and those are it's good points.

I keep mine in the basement as a last ditch BUG because if it gets stolen I really don't care & if I ever have to use it & it never leaves the evidence locker......so what.

That covers the whole spectrum on the PT92/100 series.

I have 4 Berettas in the collection. Each has been flawless. I've owned 2 Tauri over the years and they were both junk...poor fit & finish, tiny sights & crappy trigger. I know guys that have had great luck w/ the Tauri they've bought, not me. I don't plan on buying another too! ;) Plus, the Beretta 96 was the nicest shooting 40 I have owned & shot
