Im not trying to convince her to buy the Taurus, but we have to speak truthfully here..
while the Tauras (not putting them down), has not had time to prove themselves.
They have been out since the mid 80's (over 20 years). That is plenty of time to prove itself. its only 2-3 years younger than the GLOCK 17. I dont think anyone would argue that GLOCK has not had time to prove itself. Most people here on THR who has stated that they own the PT92 or its variants are very happy. I shot both alot before making my descission. I actually like the Taurus better. Im not a gun snob, I really just buy what I like. The name on the slide does not matter to me. Just give me value, and thats what the PT92 gives. IMHO of course.

Beretta 92 patterns had/have rep of locking block and slide failure. Typical civilian use with standard ammo and low round counts usually will not have this problem though. How long has Taurus been making Beretta clones for now, like the early 1980's? I have owned/own both brands though.

Ok, since I am new to THR, I am dying to know if SCGirl bought the Taurus, the Beretta, or both... ;-)

I own two S&W Model 10's and a Taurus PT908, but I have shot many different pistols and revolvers. I am no handgun expert, but to be honest, I have found the Taurus to be my favorite. It's not just because it's less expensive, but also because of the reliability and feel of the Taurus. I plan to order the PT100 in 40SW tomorrow.

I shot my Taurus 92 yesterday. I would not trade it for a new Beretta 92.
I know the Beretta 92 is a great pistol. It has to be. I just don't see any reason to buy the Beretta when the Taurus is available. Now, I've had some Taurus models that were crap, this one is a superb firearm.
