Beretta 92FS or Taurus 100SS?

Well, to keep it consistent, Beretta. I carry the 96 as CCW and compete IDPA with it. Have 2. Keep a lookout as others have suggested for Police trade ins. You probably don't want the DAO 96 Centurion though. Had one, quite a long trigger. The D springs do go well with the standard 96's though. They shoot first time, everytime and have never had a malfunction with one. Great weapon.

I would vote Beretta over the Taurus. Not all Beretta 92s have a plastic guide rod...some of the older ones are steel. I haven't figured out what the benefit of the frame mounted safety on the Taurus is, but everyone seems to prefer it...I don't see any problem with the slide mounted.

I love the beretta, and I am one great shot with it....from all the research I have done, its a great pistol, but so is the Taurus..basically the same pistol, different name.

I have a taurus PT111 and I have not had one ounce of trouble with it. I truly love the pistol want something bigger than a 9mm. The 92 is a nine, and the pt100 is a .40..

I have no beef with Beretta but I must say I have never had any problem with the Taurus in 9mm. My trigger is good, action is dependable, fit and finish are great, ergonomics are fine, always feeds, always ejects, accuracy is tops. Never broke anything or had to send back to factory. What more could you want?

Hubby has the 92fs, which I can shoot anytime...figured the Taurus, which is a .40 would be the same but different..I love my taurus, and have spoken to many that love theirs also.

beretta makes the 96, which is the 40s&w version on the 92. i think that might have already been adressed in this thread

The Beretta is my ONLY pistol, all the rest are Revos excepting for some rimfires. I can truthfully in that 10 year and definetly over 10,000 rounds i havent had a single malfunction of any kind and this includes the times when i didnt clean the gun for a few range trips and had about 500 rounds thru it.
I think that says something.
The only drawback i have HEARD of and not experienced is Berettas customer service dept is a real pain to deal with. I havent had dealings with them, its just what i have read.

you mde a fine choice, Im actually glad you didnt go w/the popular vote. The PT92 is a great gun...I own one but have shot the Beretta alot..I dont feel the Taurus lacks anything from the Beretta..its actually better due to price and location of safety. good choice.

Thanks Were and Don...I think I did also..was going to go with the stainless steel and decided against it...

will be picking it up on friday..looking forward to my weekend at the range!

SCGirl... if you live in SC, Discount Guns in Van Wyck (Rock Hill) will sell you a 92FS for $450 OTD if you talk to Tom and tell him why you want one... and they stand behind their sales as well. I've bought a ton of guns from him and they've all been first class.

Thanks wrist....Thats a great price, considering I have a dealer here in Lexington who said he will sell me the PT100 for 450.00!!! I might be reconsidering my decision, and just in the nick of time. I was going to the dealer tomorrow to but the Taurus!!

THANKS:)

FWIW, Taurus has a lifetime warrnaty even on used guns:) I am pleased with my PT92 but it is not as finely made as a Beretta. I had a lot of problems with Beretta 92 series guns in a indoor range though when renting them to customers with frame/slide/locking block cracking with high round counts though.

I really want a Taurus PT100 or 101 for some reason in stainless. I prefer the Taurus safety for one reason I guess.

100SS is what I am getting...I like the stainless steel, and think its a great pistol...Hekc, who says I can't have both the 100 and the beretta 92!

I have had my Beretta 92 almost (over 5 years) and I have had NO PROBLEMS with the Beretta at all (as long as you take care of the firearm, it will take care of you!) keep it clean and lubraicated ect. So I would go with the Beretta...it has a standing tradition, while the Tauras (not putting them down), has not had time to prove themselves.
