Best gun never made

Right. I can't spell that word for some reason.

They make 10/22 stuff such as barrels, rails, trigger groups/parts, etc. Heck, they even make 10/22 receivers out of steel! If you do any research for 10/22 parts, they will come up somewhere. Good, but pricey.

VQ also does some other stuff for guns other than the 10/22.

The MP-40 REX that never got produced. It was a break top .357 revolver. Damned import laws.

I'd like to see our Italian friends make an affordable large frame 1878 DA or small frame 1877 Lightning clone. No single actions with bird's head grips, an honest shootable old west DA revolver. Just because.

I'd like to see a 'modern' version of the Colt 1903, in 380. Ditto a modern C-96 Mauser.

OK here's one.. a centerfire, say 9mm, version of the Ruger Mk2. That would be cool.

I love the compact Berettas that the company has stopped making.Models such as the Centurion, Compact L Type M, and Custom Carry II.

Am actively searching for these models.

I am still hoping for a modern doublestack combat pistol chambered for 7.62x25. I'd prefer a steel frame along the lines of the CZ SP-01 but I'd take what I can get at this point.

I would also love to see a 7 shot multicaliber .357mag revolver that has the streamlined look of a 1861 Navy but double action with swing out cylinder. A little tasteful engraving, color casehardening, etc. It could be a real beauty. Failing that I would settle for a 7 or 8 shot multicaliber revolver. I'm talking about the system the Medussa had, not some weird scheme involving moon clips.

A semi-compact .22mag autoloader would be fun, too.

Or how about this, a Cricket/Chipmunk sized revolving rifle that was compatible with the NAA Mini Revolver cylinders so it could be a 5 shot .22lr or 5 shot .22mag revolving woods rifle. You could even make a "block" that allowed the chambering and firing of a single 5.56x45 cartridge. This one would be easy for NAA to build.

It would be real fun to scale up that idea to a multicaliber .357mag revolving rifle to match the multicaliber .357 revolver.

For a rifle an AK-47 in 6.5x39 would be the heat and it's a fairly easily achievable goal. The rear sight assembly could be omitted and instead the rear sight block would be machine with rails for a scope, optical sight or BUIS.

There are a lot of really great ideas in this thread, but what does the firearms industry give us? Another 1911 clone in .45acp or another bland poly framed striker fired doublestack in 9mm, .40 and .45. Somebody was even recently pushing their Turk-made CZ-75 ripoff in 9mm/.40 as "innovative."

Here are my personal favorites ;)

handgun - glock 19

pistol - S&W take your pick but I prefier a 642 or 640 due to size

assualt rifle - ak47 or ar15, like the feel of the AR but the AK is more reliable

bolt action - rugger m77 mkII or winchester model 70

shotgun - Remmy 870, BTW if I could only own one gun this would be it

Lever - Marlin 336

Class III - H&K mp5 costly but just so much fun

smoke pole - 50cal TC encore

A DA revolver (K frame sized maybe?) in 9mm with a method of extracting spent cases without moonclips would be quite excellent.

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement, and had never even thought about the possibility. Unfortunately, I don't think a 9mm with a mag release like the MkII would be tactical enough for anyone. Still, thats a cool idea.

The "boomstick" from Evil Dead/Army of Darkness - side by side shotgun that only needed to be reloaded once (that was after a three-shot volley). :D

Realistically? Either:

1. Beretta Vertec in .45acp with a Taurus-style safety (frame mounted, up to engage - like God and JMB intended) - or just let Taurus make it with the Vertec grip.

2. Modernized LeMat with .44mag and a 16ga single shot.

3. The Medusa (it's not all that rare, but I've never seen one).

And this has what to do with the topic?

The HK P7M10 (like a P7M13 but .40S&W) prototype, which had a slide roughly the size of the 9mm version rather than that boat anchor of a slide they decided to go with.

An 8 shot 9mm with a heel clip release not 'tactical'? "For shame," said the Sig 210 who went back to being the best 9mm ever made. ;)

I didn't suggest a Ruger Mk2 in 9mm would be tactical or practical... I just like the lines of the pistol. It wouldnt get rails and carbon fiber either, just a deep factory blue (or stainless) and cocobolo grips. Gasp, maybe even target grips!

I like easy to carry...

#1. A single stack varient of the glock 26 and 27, thin as they can get it. And I want it to work too.

#2. A kel tec sub 2k with an optics rail and decent sights.

#3. A Kahr PM9 or PM40 that doesn't cost $600.

+1 on the FAL Saiga. I'd go for a Saiga that takes the HK G3 mags over that though. They're around $1-$5 piece.

A 9mm moonclipped pocket revolver - yeah, S&W made one - damned if I can import one into the PRK.

The .41 mag GP100. 5-shot is fine. Just make it. I'll buy two, one in 4" and one in 6 or 8".

A rifle: 18" bbl with a 6-shot revolving cylinder chambered in 30-30 or 45-70. (yeah, I know, they made one like this wayyyyy back in the Civil War that never sold...black powder and in 44 ball iirc.) I am so sick of chasing brass as a hunter. If Magnum Research can make a 30-30 revo (or greater), why the heck can't they change the frame to a stock, slap an 18" bbl on it, add a forestock and go.

Hellboy's Revo. I'm all about a 20mm topbreak revo.

Glock in 7.62x25 with a folding stock carbine that uses the same magazines.
The barrels on th epistols and carbines have to be interchangable with 9MM, 9x18 and .380 as well.

The same setup in 10mm/357SIG/40S&W would do as well.

Both weapons have to have .22lr conversion kits.
