A guy on the history channel told me that the AK47 was designed to fire the .308 round. (that clip is on youtube at this very moment)

To clarify, he said:

"This is the 5.56 round, (holds up single shell) designed to be fired out of the Army's M4 carbine.

This is the .308 round, (again holds up shell. to far from camera to determine if it is a true .308 or 7.62x39) which is the round that the Soviet AK47 fires.

This is the .50 cal. (holds up round) designed to be fired from a barrett m82a1".

Some of the ones I hate the most:

(1) "The BG will just take your gun and use it against you". OK then try it if you're so sure and see what happens...

(2) "The sound of the pump shotgun will probably scare off the BG." Ever heard of Gary Fadden's self defense shooting in 1986? Granted, it was a Ruger AC556 instead of a shotgun. But the BG said "F*** you and your rifle" after Fadden fired a full auto burst. Intimidation shouldn't be a factor in choosing a gun. If it's an intimidating gun, that's a good side effect, but not a main factor.

(3) "Don't use a .308 or 7.62x39 for home/self defense becaue it'll penetrate the BG, the walls of your house, your neighbor's house, and kill his kids inside. You shoud use 55 gr. HP/SP .223 instead." No mention of different loadings for the .308 or 7.63x39...only the for the .223.

(4) "You don't need a (insert whatever gun they're trying to outlaw here) to hunt deer.

(5) "Don't worry, it's unloaded"

I carry 7 handguns CCW,all day every day, with two spare mags for each, plus a BUG and a BUG for my BUG, and a BK (backup knife) for my PK (primary knife)...jjust because I like guns.. and/or because "it" can happen anytime/anywhere
yes, of course you do, why doesn't everybody, and yes "it" can

so, what should I get for my BUG for my BUG for my BUG ?
(just in case Grizz eats my right arm, my left leg, and Wesley shoots the fingers off off my left hand, and I fall down and break my right ankle)
hey, it's not the probability.. yo, it's the consequences of the possibility
Could I still fire a NAA 22 mini mag using only my teeth and still group all shots in 1" at 30 yards, and if so, should I carry IWB or in-pocket ?
yes, of course YOU can ! but do carry as deeply concealed as possible

people who do not carry cocked and locked are afraid of their own guns
but people who carry SA/DA revolvers uncocked and unlocked are not afraid, just obsolete

science and technology has advanced the art of gunmaking to the point that semi-auto pistols are far more reliable than revolvers
no matter what ammo you feed 'em

the barrel on my revolver is stamped "38sp", what does that mean ?...
it means you can shoot 38 super in it, that's what they used to call special, just a 38 w/ a little extra, but folks never could figure out what special meant, now they know

nobody who knows the 4 rules could ever possibly have an AD/ND
but I know the 4 rules, so it can never happen to me, so I see no reason to worry about it, just laugh about it
right, only idiots and wussies do that, thank goodness

what is the best for SHTF ?
uhhh.. quit worrying about ammo and stock up on diapers ???
stay away from fans ???

I carry my CCW/PD/HD gun when I go to the toilet in my own house, because "it" can happen anywhere anytime
yes it can, you might oughta' think about a BUG to go with that, waterproof if you do IWB

it's my woobie and I will carry it anywhere I want... (your space is my place if I choose to be in it)
because "it" can happen anywhere/anytime
especially places I voluntarily pay money to go into, like a room with only two exits (one of which is probably locked), along with 300 random strangers looking at 3,000 guns on open display and 30,000 rounds of ammo within easy reach... and they should all carry their woobie, too, just like me
based on my many years of experience, I feel safer with 300 well armed strangers, half of whom are utterly clueless about firearms safety, because if we are ALL together when "it" happens.. yo, safety in numbers

my gun is better than your gun, because I can drop it out of an airplane and run over it with a bulldozer and leave it under the ocean for 15 or 20 years, and it will still be utterly reliable and highly accurate when '"it" happens... really, honest.. "try this at home", and see for yourself

PS
hey, if it wasn't for all this sort of thing, just how long could we amuse ourselves talking only about how fast a chunk of lead can be pushed out a hole by powder "X" ??
you can only have just so much fun
;)

Hello friends and neighbors // You can buy one here [internetstore] ,used for $200.00 (old S&W revolvers)...........Forgetting the +shipping+tax+FFL fee

20.ga is too small for whitetail.

.45 is more powerful than a .44mag, thats why the numbers bigger.

They don't even make a pump action .30-06 you must be talking about a shotgun.

Proof that humor should be left to the professionals!

I kinda got sidetracked slightly, but thought I'd post (mostly) a what they say/what they mean primer:

Rare!
Such a piece of crap few were made before they took it off the market/went out of business.

Not very many made.
See above.

Seldom seen.
Also see above.

NIB, only fired about 50 rounds.
Recoil is killing me (and I can't hit squat with it).

From a widow.
Husband died "mysteriously". :scrutiny:

Been in a closet for 30 years.
Rusted (heavily).

Sure to increase in value.
If used as a paperweight-of absolutely no value as a firearm.

Will make great sniper rifle.
Looks just like the ones in the movies.

It's a good deal I'm taking a loss on it.
Bought 1st, asked questions 2nd... :banghead:

"Tactical"
May not be functional, but at least it adds weight.

I'll make you a deal.
Stolen.

One hit with a 45 is better than 16 misses with a 9mm.
And the two are mutually exclusive why?

Trigger job.
Damn thing goes off if you look at it-scares the hell outta me!

Just needs a trigger job.
See above.

Shoots to the left.
Never learned proper trigger control (learned how to shoot on video games).

Guns don't need no stinkin' safety.
BAM!

How about Gun Magazine test articles?
"It shot 1" groups at 25yds. offhand, from a standing position, no problem"

That reminds me of another one! :D
"It shot 1" groups at 25yds. offhand, from a standing position, no problem."
We're just too cheap to buy a Ransom Rest.

"I can outshoot everyone at the club with my PGO 18" shotgun over them with their $XXXX dollar target gun"............

"I can work my pump faster than any semi"...........

"You can't use anything less than a 3-1/2" shell for turkey hunting".........

"Yes you can shoot a 2-3/4" shell in a 2-1/2" gun because it fits"........

and so it goes............

"You NEED this 300 Remington Ultra Mag with ballistic tips to have enough stopping power to take down a 90 lb deer"

No you don't, only your ego does.

" Deer will run off unless I use highly frangible ballistic tips "

Place your freaking shots better and stop ruining so much meat. In your little world a deer with both shoulders reduced to jelly may be ok, but not in anyone else's.

" It should be three inches high at 100 yards "

No, unless you have been to the range and put in some time, it's three inches high at the 60 yards you stepped off as if it were 100, meaning that when you try to take one from from a couple hundred yards you will miss horribly then blame the scope.

" you could lay a dime over the group this rifle shoots " + " minus the flyer(s)"

Only if the dime in question was the size of a dinner plate. Try again.

" I killed this deer from over 400 yards "

When it comes to tailgate talk after a hunt, take any range given and divide by four.

"My semi-auto has been 100% reliable"

So far my Beretta 92FS has been. Course it's only had about 1,200 rounds in it's young life, it's only been on sunny ranges, and it rarely shoots over 100 rounds without being practically white glove cleaned and re-oiled. Honestly, if a pistol had problems under those conditions I'd think it, the mag, and/or the ammo was complete POS.

Saw a funny argument at ar15.com about barrel length that went something like this:

Person A: Barrel length only helps velocity. Shorter barels are more accurate.

Person B: So flatter trajectories and better wind bucking don't help at long range?

Person A: No. The shorter the barrel the more rigid it is so it's more accurate.

Person B: So then why aren't all rifles just snubnose pistols with butstocks attached?

I have a gun here, purchased used and represented as the store owner's personal carry.

Judging by the mummified grease and dust bunnies big enough to raise, he may have last carried it during the reign of King Tut....

But he definitely hadn't shot it much. (Yeah, I can tell :).)

(Decent price, no chicanery, but really out of print.)

I have another one that appears to be pre-Civil War if you go by the manufacturer's web site :D.... Actually a lot newer (maybe 2005) but eclipsed by newer, more expensive models. NIB, but really old stock.... Again, decent price, etc. One of two EDC's, but you had to be there....

I was there today and had to hold it in. A guy wanted a KelTec P3AT over the corresponding Ruger. While I have a problem with Ruger cloning that thing, the potential purchaser didn't appear to be up to the level of self-care the P3 may need. He bought the P3AT.... The counterkid didn't want to get into why KT's warranty/support is so good :D.... The buyer saved a few bucks, and he could get lucky, of course. I don't fault that, but a shake of the head was tempting....

And, finally, it may be appropriate to include the gunnie's prayer:

"Lord, when I die, may the wife not sell these guns for what I told her I paid for them...."

Regards,

" I killed this deer from over 400 yards "
Actually out here in the open country of Nevada, a lot of deer are taken from over 300 yards. Mine was taken this year from a ranged 476 yds according to my rangefinder. Glass. See. Stalk. Get a good prone rest. Shoot. Enjoy.

I steer clear of anything with the words "preban!" in large capital letters. There is no ban; so "pre-ban" means nothing.

They could mean pre-1994 ban. It's a perfectly legitimate classification for a weapon. EBRs changed during the ban and again after the ban expired.

"There is no ban!" *In Arnold voice, like Kindergarten Cop*
