I am confused?
You guys really think ANY repeating firearm is safe?

A brace of Thompson Contenders and a double barrel to shoot off the balcony are enough
For me my post is part jest. I am planning to buy a Fox/Savage sometime in the next 6 months.
I that shotgun is as good an option as any.

I liked the concept. I tried to buy one, at a Bass Pro, just before one of my wife’s birthdays, because I knew that she, too, liked the concept, but I could not seem to get anyone’s attention. (Bunch of young employees, clowning around, behind the firearms counter, a half-hour before closing.) I walked out, bought something else for my wife, and reckoned I would have my local independent dealer order a 7615, sooner or later. Well, when “later” arrived, there were none in the pipeline, to be had, and I never again saw a new one, on any rack.

I later reader several purported user reports, claiming some kind of functional or durability issues, which I cannot cite or verify, at this time. I lost interest, especially as auto-loading AR15 rifles were so readily available, without having to pay collectors’ prices.

I remember reports that the triggers were not that great and there wasn't a lot that could be done to improve them, which might have been an issue with the 7600 line in general

That's really interesting and I don't doubt you but after seeing a 223/556 break the 'ear' off a AR500 3/8inch plate at 50 yards or so..I find it hard to believe it wouldn't go thru some wall board and insulation. Yup, a 9mm would too but.....
Of course 5.56mm will go through wall board and some insulation-but considerably less of it than almost all handgun cartridges*. That's just one of several reasons most entry teams have ditched subguns: carbine rounds have more effect and penetration vs SBA, but less pen through building materials!

*With the exception of some dedicated "barrier blind"/penetrator rounds.

:ninja: Ewwwww....hate doing politics but cannot resist. Biden IS NOT "center right," I've never heard a center right Pol want to confiscate guns. And he wants to raise taxes and re-regulate ---[ /politics] :what:

His view on guns is certainly not good in our view, but if we're being honest the GOP hasn't really been great, either. Our outgoing POTUS used his power to ban bump stocks, the first thing I can remember actually being banned since the original Clinton/Bush AWB. He is also on the record as favoring confiscation of guns first with due process later, kind of an oxymoron. I should also point out that if you go far enough left you get your guns back.;)

I don't feel under-equipped with good bolt guns, but I also have a slide-action 7600 in .35 Whelen. :D

I shortened the LOP and added a peep sight, which I'm used to from the Army, and prefer.

I do agree that too many GOP politicians jumped on the Red Flag law bandwagon.

I had a thread about the Troy pump AR. I was thinking about it as a more reliable platform for a variety of different ammo until I learned it came with a pinned and welded muzzle device. I think it fits here, though a pump 357, 44, 45, or 50 rifle would be great too.

Can anyone direct me to some more information on the lack of over penetration of 223/5.56 in objects?

For most folks I doubt the pinned & welded muzzle device would be a deal breaker. Since we're talking about a hypothetical law that hasn't even been proposed yet, much less written, debated or passed, it's hard to say if the aforementioned rifle would still be legal or not. In CA I think removable mags are verboten although maybe that's just in semi-auto firearms (I've only been to Cali once and then just for a visit). I could see such a weapon being pretty interesting if it was made by someone other than Troy.

If you have purchased a firearm requiring an FBI background check you have probably made the hit parade. I would imagine there are many of us on many lists. I guess we’ll see.
Meh.

Do you think that the same government that can't keep track of 13 million illegal aliens is going to be able to efficiently track us? Recognize that those millions and millions of background checks don't disclose what type of rifle or handgun are being purchased. That information is on the 4473 kept on file at the FFL.

The government doesn't have enough manpower to gather all that information, or to kick in all those doors, and they certainly don't have enough money to put all of us in jail. Places that have implemented registration/confiscation schemes in this country have experienced abysmally low compliance rates. I don't expect any better with national efforts.

We are quickly headed toward an "Irish Democracy" where many laws are enacted, and just as many are ignored. Welcome to the new anarchy.

I think in the UK they have straight pull style “bolt action” ARs.
