Best place to live with guns.

They ALL infringe to one extent or another, but Georgia is about as gun friendly as any. And, you can pick your climate. From the cool mountains to the Atlantic coast, to the flat, hot plains of South Ga.

UT about as good to go as it gets... I live directly in the heart of SLC, carry everyday, with permit of course, and can send my wife to the store with a 9mm in the console of the car and no permit. Drive 50 miles in any direction and there are more things to do and see than you could shake a stick at.

I moved from Illinois to Kentucky entirely because of gun laws.

Kentucky is a great place. I may be biased, being native-born and all, but we've got it right on gun ownership. Louisville is #30 on the "largest U.S. cities list, and Lexington comes in at #65.

We have a massive chunk of the Daniel Boone National Forest, and if you like water, we have more running water (streams and rivers) in Kentucky than any other state in the union except Alaska.

To frost the cake, we're friendly and we invented burgoo.

People play TX up way too much in my opinion. While I am from TX, regarding gun laws I greatly prefer being here in KY. First of all open carry is not allowed in TX and any business owner can post a sign to make you a criminal. That is not the case in KY. Even posted signs do not make you a criminal if you have a CCW. Concealed is concealed. If you are made the only trouble is if you are asked and refuse to leave. We can carry concealed in places that serve alcohol, while hunting, state parks, etc. with the usual exception of gov't buildings. I love good ole Kentuck's gun laws and think they are arguably the best in the country.

Even though most of these suggestions were already made, I will take a stab at gun friendly states from the top of my head....

GA,KY,NH,TX,AL,AZ,FL,OR,AK,LA,OH,VT,UT,CO,PA,WY, and thats all I can think of for now...

Good Luck with your move.

First of all open carry is not allowed in TX and any business owner can post a sign to make you a criminal

Hopefully one day we will have open carry, in regards to business owners posting and making you a criminal... that is a little misleading to some one unfamiliar with texas chl laws. I own a business and if i post a sign that says no admittance with shoes, then you cant come in with shoes, its no different, my property means my rules. Thats the way it should be. I have only seen 3 places in DFW properly posted to prohibit carry by a chl holder by the way...

Although texas gun laws have room for improvement (suppressor for hunting, chl in bars, no open carry, non defined prohibited chl locations) its still pretty good.

Dont mess with Texas son! :D

My vote is Virginia, open carry legal in bars, (no drink) OK, conceal carry in bars OK, (just passed). Conceal carry permits (2 weeks to get). Overall, a gun friendly place. I open carry most times, no permit, no nonsense. I was riding my motorcycle yesterday, gun on hip, no attention, no bother. It's not perfect (one gun a month) but the silly rules are being overturned thanks to the VCDL, the Virginia Citizens Defense League, probably the best all volunteer gun lobby in the country. I love it here!

Pennsylvania or New Hampshire would get my vote. I'm a resident of PA so these are its only naggles that prevent it from being perfect:

Requires LTCF (license to carry firearms), or any reciprocated state-issued license/permit (the list is extensive) to carry concealed, or at all (open or concealed) in Philadelphia.
Requires ANY license or permit issued by ANY state, to carry in a vehicle (in other words, PA recognizes all 49 other states for purposes of carrying in a vehicle). You cannot open carry in a vehicle without a license (but you can on foot, outside of Philadelphia).
Explosive DDs (destructive devices) are prohibited by state law.
You cannot hunt with autoloaders (pistol or long gun) unless you lack use of at least one arm.

Other than that, PA is a great place for a gun owner. There are also extremely few legal prohibitions on where you can carry. Basically courthouses and inside schools (though there's an affirmative defense listed in the statute, that carrying "for a lawful purpose" in a school is valid. Hasn't been tested in court yet). And courthouses are required by law to avail gun carriers to lock boxes for purposes of checking their iron. Yes, I have tested this and yes, even the State Capitol building complies with this law. I love Pennsylvania! :)

I live in Alaska. I cant see any other place being as gun friendly. No need for CCW permit, carry open if you want too. Most people here are gun friends if not gun aware. No indoor ranges though and shooting in the dead of winter is an exercise in hardiness.

Anyplace warm that allows me to have whatever I want. Fl is close, but as mentioned not many places to shoot. Also you can get a class 3, but it's way overpriced, as are all full auto and supressed weapons, imo. And it would be nice to allow a semi open carry, in other words, allow printing, "as long as you don't see the pistol", why should it matter.
The only ones who ever notice are usually other shooters, and most of them are probablly in the same camp.

My vote is for Idaho, Boise in particular. As has already been mentioned open carry is legal inside or out of the city. CCW permits are easy to obtain. The city itself has pretty much anything you want where city living is concerned and outside of the city there is just about every conceivable outdoor activity available. It would more that meet the OP's requirements and the economy isn't too shabby. As with a lot of places the economy used to be better but it'll rebound.

Anchorage, Alaska would be the place - there really are no gun laws to speak of. No concealed carry permit is required, but you can still get one (easy) for travel to reciprocal states. Open carry is allowed. Class 3 weapons are allowed.

And since you mention hunting, well, it's the best hunting in the world.

In a perfect world, I think I'd prefer Alaska in the summer and Arizona in the winter.

Another +1 to Georgia. I love it here. Our gun laws are reasonable, and getting better all the time. It's easy enough to find a place to shoot, it's easier than easy to get a permit, and the weather is fine. At least at the northern edge of the state it is.

Another vote for KY. You can buy a gun from a dealer and walk out the door in ten minutes if you have your CCW.

Missouri is the place to be. There are no permits or registration except ccw and open carry is perfectly legal. I keep the Tokarev in the center console of my car or if we're in the wifes car, it goes in the door pocket. :D

Go to Texas. If things keep going the way they are in this country (socialism), Texas will secede from the Union and you can be part of history!

+1, I would love to see that play out and see the liberal reaction.

Anyway, I don't have expirence with many GOOD places, it seems most of the South, Alaska, Arizona, Mountain States, etc.

However, I can tell you a BAD place.
I-L-L-I-N-O-I-S.
DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Our economy stinks! Our political system is a fraud-fest, We have no concealed or open carry (or money), No HANDGUNS in Chicago (might be soon!), highest sales tax in the nation in C(r)ook County. I've heard terrible stories of guys using guns in self defence and spending thousands of dollars in courts to get them back. I will admit, I'm trashing my home state, however I have no choice to be anywhere else at the moment. I've had to resort to putting knife in the car instead of a firearm, out of fear it would be confiscated and never seen again.
I hope you take my advice and don't move here.

Dont go to Montana it sucks here......no fishing, no hunting and strict gun laws! Go and tell all your friends.

I can walk into a gun store in Anchorage Alaska, buy a gun and walk out with it in 15 minutes tops without any kind of permit. Just a quick NICS and have a nice day.

Also, I dont have to put any dessicant or de-humidifiers in my safes or worry about moisture corrosion unless the piece gets wet out in the field.

Bog Boy, you never mentioned WHY you are leaving your home? Is it because of the gun laws?

Man, it may be me... but I take pride in my community, grew up, went to college and work here as did mine before me, and I hope mine after me.

Dont come to Maine. If you are not from here, you are likley not tough enough to survive here. But we have "ok" gun laws.

Good luck.

Not leaving because of gun laws. Leaving at some point because I'm sick of living here. Been here all my life, it's boring. Time to find something new.

Nevada is not the best, but it is not bad. They passed a preemption law stating that no city can have stricter gun laws than the state does. Open carry is legal. CCW is easy to get, you can carry about anywhere but Federal buildings for the most part. You can carry, and drink in a bar, as long as you keep it under .1, not that I do it. Clark County just opened a huge range in Vegas, currently the shooting facility is 178 acres, the area encompasses 2900 acres. Although I havent been to a range in town, because I can just go shoot out in the desert. The main problems are, Clark county, where Las Vegas is, has handgun registration; and you have to qualify with every semi-auto on your CCW. If I could go anywhere though, Arizon is looking pretty good.

Republik of California....lol N O T!
I'm content here in the deep south...For the most part, things are a little better here in the southern states than a lot of places, as far as firearms, carrying, etc. Kodiak, Alaska would be interesting for a while. I have a brother there, and I envy his situation. Planning to hunt brown bear with him, but I'm not a fan of the cold. I like civilization too much.
