Best State for Guns

That map is dated. I beleive the current Brady 'grade' system dates back to 2005.

In 2006 we fixed the 2 year old 'plain sight' rule for CCW, killed the local laws. Short of Vermont carry you cannot get better than Ohio.
I have no doubt that Ohio will join its southern neighbor in the great honor of a 'F'. :D

EDIT: Nebraska is a B? what the hell happened there?

Do you have to take finger prints for your CCW? Do you have to take a course? How much is it? Do you have ANY restricted places you CAN'T CCW in your state?

CA commies I feel for you, why not open a new range and put those two Ho's up as targets and a few of their pimps then you might feel free!

I recently moved from there, 16 month ago to New Mexicowhere it is a much more gun friendly state.

Now if only the END USER TAX can be outlawed here.

As for the Governor Bill Richardson he might be for gun owners but watch out for his carpetbagging.

I alway's thought New Mexico, Texas and Arizona were the only free states left.

Texas is more gun friendly than a lot of states, but it's still not what I'd consider to be gun friendly. Just getting the CHL program back in the 90s was an uphill battle and it's still a POS program.

Arizona is more or less the same way.

Ok same question then, what is Montana like? people?jobs? etc. help me out I am about to graduate college in a year and half and I cannot stay here any longer.

Montana would probably be too much of a culture shock to you; you'd be better off somewhere like Florida, which is still a lot more gun friendly than California.

Tecumseh, even if it's legal, I'd recommend being REALLY careful about having a firearm on you when you go to the bar to meet the young ladies. Some ******* tries to start a fight with you and the situation will get real ugly real fast. Hell, you can't really meet any decent women at the bar usually so I don't see any point. Anywhere else that serves alcohol is fine, but seedy bars and night clubs I never go to.

Except that Arizona allows unlicensed open carry ... whereas Texas is the only state I can think of whose CCW holders are literally paranoid about "Am I printing?" And Arizona had an officer in the state police assigned to the job of seeking out other states to work out reciprocity agreements. I don't believe Texas would ever consider doing that.

Also pending is a bill to declare that firearms made in and retained in Montana are not subject to federal regulation.

Not subject to federal regulation? What about "class 3" firearms?

I wouldn't put Kansas very high on the gun friendly list, :( We have just now been "granted permission" to get a CCW, not sure if it is a shall issue or not. Also from the last that I have heard we are still not allowed to own a class 3 firearm or silencers. But I hopefully will be moving to SD soon, :D

As much as I'm for unlicensed open carry, I do NOT see the appeal in it. Too many people nowadays are paranoid with firearms and if they can clearly see you are packing, you might find yourself unwelcome at a lot of places. Also, during a robbery or some other crime, I do NOT want the criminals to know that I'm packing.

But seeing that Texas permits are valid in more states than Arizona's permit, this is a moot point. Florida permits don't even have a huge reciprocity advantage to the Texas permit.

Rick Perry does a pretty decent job at the reciporocity agreements, better than I would expect a governor to.

Arizona also requires all of their residents to take their own CCW course in order to carry in Arizona, whereas Texas does not. So no, I don't honestly see Arizona as being much more gun friendly than Texas.

A lot of you guys, especially those seriously considering moving to a state largely because it's gun friendly, need to wonder just how long that state might stay the way it is. Nationwide Demographics and politics are changing radically. For example, Nevada and New Mexico are no longer the rural and conservative red states that they once were just a few short years ago.

As far as blanket concealed carry in Vermont and Alaska.....I think Alaska is pretty safe for a while, but can't understand how concealed carry hasn't been abolished yet in Vermont. I wonder how long it will take before this happens there. When I think of Vermont, I no longer think of "Maple Syrup". I think of a Dean Liberal state that borders against NY, and is has a huge welfare population of people that don't speak our language. If I were to move Northeast and didn't mind the cold, I would seriously consider NH as the last vestige of conservatism in that region of the country. But, even NH too is now in the blue column due to the liberal elitist yuppies spilling into it from Massachusettes.

I think of a Dean Liberal state

Remember Dean was an 'A' NRA rated Guvna. He seems pretty pro gun to me, who believes in the 'states rights' model of gun control (which I prefer over national bans/laws forced upon pro gun states) I lived for one year in Vermont - its a weird state - where liberal and conservative values are squished into a strange package. Huge numbers of guys hunt up there.

Totally false. Vermont is still about I believe 97% anglo. (EDIT: Checked, 98.12% white) Where did you get that information? They might want to make it a socialist utopia but it is almost entirely white. If there are any non English speakers, they are Frenchman coming in from Canada.

Does this law have any real chance of being passed?

I've always wanted to turn my home into a Sten/AK factory and I hear land in Montana is cheap.
