Just make sure your holster has a piece of material extending up to and past the safety. See BigMike's picture above. This is typically called a sweat shield and it's best function is that it prevents the safety from being disengaged during your daily activities by friction or catching on clothing. I wouldn't carry either a 1911 or Browning in any other fashion than C&L. Anything else slows you down tremendously.

No, I'm not interested in the replies of all the "You always need to use a holster for safety" people. The only gun that absolutely should have a holster is the Glock, or other striker fired handgun, for safety reasons.

I've carried various Single Action Pistols, Revolvers, and Double Action Autoloaders over the past 20+ years, some with and some without a Grip Safety, and it's never been an issue for me. To each their own I guess.
