Buds Gun Shop-Retail Store Only

I’ve wondered about the retail location thing as well. Fortunately I live about 40 miles from the Greenville Ky location and when they list a item as in stock in Greenville 9.5 times out of ten they actually have it. They’ve done a good job of keeping up their handgun stock especially Glock. Last I looked they had 12 to 15 Glock models listed and that doesn’t mean they only have one of each model. About 60 miles from my location is the world famous Whittaker Guns (now Whittaker Country). When I look at their Glock stock in the store they have 1 model (19 gen 5) listed and only one of that model in stock. Whittaker’s sure ain’t what it used to be and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them go belly up in the not to distance future. Just my humble opinion of course!

On another note about Bud’s Guns and Uncle Lee’s (retail location). When Rural King aka RK Guns listed the Glock P80 first gen 17 retro model they had them for $559. About a day or two later Bud’s listed them for $769 and showed them in stock in Greenville. Now they don’t show the price online. But $200 difference? The moral of the story is watch what you think is a good deal from Bud’s. That $210 difference now makes me check prices in other stores before throwing down the ca$h.
On a brighter note I’m going to the Madisonville Rural King tomorrow to pick up my Glock P80. I got the email it was in Thursday.

Go check the difference in price between Buds and Ky Gun Co w/ their e-check discount on in stock prices. You just might switch like I did.

The retail store and online business are two separate entities. Online sales are either drop shipped from the mfg. or are shipped from some big warehouse in the northeast somewhere. There’s no provision for the retail store staff to box up a gun and ship it out for web sales. I’ve seen guns on the shelves of the Lexington store that weren’t listed on the website. As far as I know none of the used inventory ever shows up on the web unless it’s a giant pile of police trades or the like.

I’ve been to the new store 2-3 times. It’s a good three hour drive for me. I used to spend hours looking at all the stock and being amazed by the selection and the prices. The last time I was there I doubt I spent 30 minutes.

I doubt I’ll make the trip again.

While I was waiting to get my 4473 done and check out yesterday at Rural King I talked to three other guys and the Whittaker subject came up. We all agreed that there’s no reason to go back there. If I found that many in one little store in Madisonville Ky that feel that way Whittaker’s is doomed! When they left the poll barn store, that was the killer.
