ok i am about to build 3 different ar's to take care of all my gun needs except my shotguns pistols etc

all lowers are spikes tactical lowers on classified as a sbr.

the sbr will be for home defense and chambered in 458 socom. 10.5 inch barrel and subsonic ammo

another will be a spikes tactical lower marked 22lr which will of course be chambered in 22lr. *just a plinker nothing else*

the other lower will be my varminter/deer/hog and will be .223 for varmints and 6.8spc for hogs and deer.

do all my calibers seem like they are suited for there outlined task?

would 9mm be more suited for home defense? and 6.8 should be more than enough for deer and hog correct?

btw i can not have a pistol due to the fact that i am only 18

is there a way i can have a pistol in florida at 18 ? if its a gift from my father?

I can't answer any of your legal questions, but I do believe your dad can get your a pistol...

Definately not...But .223 would suit your HD needs just as well.

I would also consider switching the 6.8 w/ the 6.5 grendel.

Also, you would be better off PMing a mod and asking them to move this thread to Rifle Country.;)

Basically, you have the .22 plinker lower, and then 2 more lowers up for debate.

I'd slot the .223 as varmint, home defense, light game, general purpose, with 3 different uppers.

I'd skip the 458 soocom, go to an AR-10 type platform (SR-25 has like 75% interchangability with ar-15s IIRC, not sure on other makers) in 308 for serious long range, heavier game/general purpose

i quess ill do away with 6.8 and just get a ar-10 in .308

and forget about 6.8 and 458 socom.

figured 9mm sbr do to the fact that that i dont want the penetration of .223 hitting family when i goes through walls

Most definately...I didn't know that was an option or I would have suggested it...I just picked up a DPMS LR-308B myself.

9mm has a greater chance of going through multiple walls and killing someone than a .223.;)

.223 has proven time and again less prone to penetrating residential structures than handgun rounds and shotgun slugs. The bullets start tumbling and fragmenting very quickly.
