Carrying Chamber Empty, Any Advantages of DAO/Striker Over a SA/DA?

It takes me a sub second to rack the slide, so I'm simply not as paranoid as the rest of you. I have no worries about carrying chambered when my gun is on me, it's my lifestyle that gets in the way. Anyway, I'll try to make a more detailed post in the other thread regarding carrying chamber empty. Enough thread crapping in my own post.

I probably already knew the answer to my question in the first post, but just wanted to see if there were any other technical reasons. I am a vastly superior shot with my Sig and 1911 which are both SA/DA compared to my M&P40c and my LCP. Now granted, that's highly unfair given the gun sizes. I know that. But I'd think that if the M&P40c came in a SA trigger, I'd be a much better shot at that as well.

So now that's what I'm on the hunt for, a small concealable SA/DA.

Which one shoots better

I carry Double Action Only and keep a DAO for my house gun.

I have come to prefer the revolver like consistency to the Double Action/Single Action transition.

SA/DA

If it makes you feel better, use the SA/DA and put your thumb on the hammer, keep your finger away from the trigger, and hold the hammer down with your thumb while you holster the gun.

I'm the type of guy who thinks that a carried pistol should always have one in the chamber.
This way, when you really need it, you're almost certain to get at least one shot off before any possible malfunction (Murphy never sleeps!).

But remarks like these are senseless....
A gun with an empty chamber is an expensive paperweight - no matter how it actually works.
You're carrying a rock, it really doesn't matter what kind of rock, it's still a rock
If you carry a useless, unloaded, unready firearm (doesn't matter how many rounds are in the mag), it should have a steel frame and a "skullcrusher" on the bottom of the grip, in case you have to use it.
Given your attitude towards carrying your gun loaded and ready for action, I'd suggest you stop worrying about DAO vs SA vs whatever. Instead, you should start looking at weight and construction, something large and steel, like a Desert Eagle or S&W X-frame, might be good. That way when the SHTF at least you'll have the advantage of carrying a really big, heavy blunt object to beat your attacker with
No matter what anyone says, a pistol with a loaded magazine, but an empty chamber is NOT a useless paper-weight or a rock.
I might let an eight year old child go out and play with a paper-weight or a rock, but I sure as hell wouldn't let an eight year old go out and play with a pistol (loaded magazine and empty chamber).
Only an idiot would!

If you want to carry with a empty chamber then just practice racking the slide...ALOT!!!
And pray that you're never in a situation where you only have one hand available when you need to shoot someone RIGHT NOW!

In the service we had to carry our 1911's in condition 3 on SP duty, and it worked out fine. Carry the handgun the way you want to and don't listen to some of these posters, decide for yourself..

Also know how to rack the slide with only one hand. Hook the rear sights on your belt, or shoe, or whatever, and push the frame away to rack the slide. Hopefully you will always have both hands available for the task but there is always a chance that you won't.

I guess a 50% chance is better than none (if your shoes are tied, that is)

What folks really need to do is man up and realize that guns are tools - they're not self-aware instruments of destruction that are just waiting for a human to touch them so they can shoot that person's foot or whatever.

Learn the tool. Use the tool effectively (an empty chamber in your CCW piece is not very "effective" as a firearm)

Look... quit goading people that don't feel comfortable carrying +1

Now I do understand that these are preventable, but let's drop the whole "go big or go home" mentality. :banghead: ... a man's got to know his limitations:scrutiny:

I read one time that a car's gas tank ignited so I keep mine empty...

Seriously, if there were news articles about people not shooting themselves in the foot I would post them, but it happens millions of times everyday so it isn't very sensational news.
