Hey...is it just me, or does the marketing director for SIG in the cartoon look kinda like...the marketing director for SIG?

Almost makes you wonder if they might be putting together a real calendar or some other collateral.

Would be kinda neat if Mr. Muir would drop by though.

I certainly wouldn't mind having the thread graced by Mr. Muir's presence. Though a friendly post by Mr. Ayoob is equally exciting for a newbie such as myself.

Day by Day is usually pretty funny, but sometimes it takes a few days to get to the punchline, which is just fine by me. With the advent of online comic strips, the medium has gone in all sorts of new directions that artists were never able to explore within the confines dictated by newspapers and comic syndicates.

And Doonesbury hasn't been funny for about the last decade and a half. Trudeau's edge has blunted with age and anger.

I like that comic and always have. It shows a sharp wit and attention to the current political scene. The characters are attractive, intelligent, and hip. This makes them role models for young upcoming politically active people. The exact kind of people we need supporting our Second Amendment to keep it live for the future. If you are the old curmudgeonly gunny sort don't lock these folks out because they show belly and cleavage...we want everybody to support the right to keep and bear arms remember?

Bare Arms

Definitely the right to bare arms.Legs, midriffs...

Sorry. That's my marketing side.

Muir=Al Capp.

Al Capp was asked about the women in Lil Abner being buxomy and sexy. He said he LIKED drawing women that way. I assume that's the way Muir likes his women.

I do too. I go to www.captainsquarters.com every morning, first thing and read Day By Day. It's hip. It's conservative. It's got sexy women.

What's not to like?

Here's the correct address for the Captains's Quarters, although the one posted above is kind of cool, too.

On an even lighter note, does Trudeau even draw his strip anymore? I had been told the whole thing was done by inkers.

One of the things I like most about Chris Muir's strip is that, being based on the Internet, he can address current issues in a far more timely fashion than the print strips. He can also change his punchlines, which it what makes if fun to check out the strip in the evening, and then the following morning.

DBD Scenarios

Not that Muir needs any help...but anyone got a good idea for a story line? He might actually read your suggestions here.

I can't wait to see how the SIG calendar photoshoot is going to work out. I think the SIG guy has already got the hots for our heroine.

1. Damon buys a K31 and uses the tag under the buttplate to contact the Swiss army guy who owned it. The retired Swiss guy invites the crew to Switzerland and is quite taken with the girls.

2. Jan and Damon get SWAT-teamed in a raid at the wrong address.

3. Skye joins the Marines.

4. Anything involving a Garand.

4a

4a. Damon and Zed receive CMP Garands they have ordered. Sam is SERIOUSLY pissed off that they didn't think to include her. The SIG guy gets her a sweet deal on a Inland Folding stock M1 Carbine that she posed with in the calendar. Jan can't figure out what all the fuss is about these old greasy guns.

Welcome Chris! Thanks for joining in.

Blackfork:

3. Skye joins the Marines.

Pretty sure that ain't gonna happen. :D

I think 4a is somewhat more in line, but I actually wouldn't mind seeing Skye's POV on the gun issue. I wonder if they grew up with guns in the home. . .

I also look forward to seeing how Jan comes out of this storyline.

I somehow don't see the strip characters as being involved in antique rifle collecting. :scrutiny: That'd be...some other comic, different lifestyle. Especially if it's meant to be urban...you simply cannot do such things if you live in an apartment. Nothing that requires grease and cleaning!

SIGs and HKs and whatever the most stylish black rifle du jour is, perhaps. Things that could lie on a desk with a Blackberry and a flatpanel display and not look out of place.

Old wooden battle rifles.

I disagree. I think Damon and Zed would be STOKED to get some CMP Garands. They seem to be renaissance guys. And Sam? You know she wants one for SURE.

Amen on Skye joining the Marines. It was a reach. She's probably going to clean up and work for Pelosi instead.

I've always liked DBD.

Don't mind El T, he got confused when comics started coming in different colors, and hasn't recovered yet. :)

What Santa brung Zed last year

Sam got Zed an AUG Steyr full-auto last year.

Wish I could afford one.

Hey, welcome to THR, Chris!

I don't read newspapers anymore, and miss some of the comics, and have thought yours (being read online) was a breath of fresh air.

Keep it up!

p.s. Big Fan of bare midriffs on hot girls as well :D

That would be SOOO COOL!!! No one but us would get it, but it would be SOOOOO DANG COOL!

+1 on both points

Hi Chris! Welcome to THR
!

And I hope Mr. Muir finds a nice home here. We don't bite... much.

The strip is great. It's on my Daily Do's list with Lawdog and THR.

Yo, Chris!

Well, I'll be . . .

Welcome!

I seriously dig Day By Day. I just wish my intellect was able to keep up. Sometimes I have to rewind a ways to "get" the drift.

Fine work, though.

No worries Arfin

I have to keep up with it, too!

Actually, it's just that it is based on the premise that the readers are on the net, and can look up data relevant to the toon. Usually a killer for a strip, but I feel people enjoy a deeper look at things and make their own decisions.

And I like drawing the women. Did I mention that already?
