For me it has to do with gun fit.
I am a believer in gun fit, and Pachmayer Decelerator recoil pads.
30-06 hurt me as a kid, when the stock had a crack, we did not notice, but it became evident about 3 shots later.
.270 with a synthetic stock, and the worlds worst recoil pad that did not fit, stung pretty good many years ago.
45-70 in a light weight single shot, with a too short of stock and the world's second worst recoil pad , rocked my world.
I took one look at a "ultra light" in .338, that weighed about 6 pounds, syn stock a fella had...
"No thanks, good luck with that".
Pretty sure that was him yelling out as I was about to exit the parking lot with the window down in my vehicle...
Shotgun's Rule of 96 applies to handguns and rifles too...
As does gun fit, and I am partial to Decels...
