Caught my first snake

I finally got a chance to get out back and take a few cracks with this thing. I must say, it is rather impressive. I went right after a load that my Freedom 83 shoots right good, 11gr of 7 under 125 xtp, and this Colt here shot it pretty fair for offhand, 25 yards. I've got to play with the sights a bit as i had to hold a bit high on the bull, but my final target of the day with it wasn't bad, with 2 in the same hole, and a lowball from trying the last one double action. It certainly is a fine shooter right out of the box, the only thing better out of the box, well, it had darn well better be, is my 83.
The only downside was the thread a few days after I bought the thing about another broken new Cobra. Hopefully I can avoid those gremlins with this one, and I sure ain't gonna sweat it. But I certainly won't be considering a KC Carry for a carry revolver.
Nice little piece, I'm happy with it. Reckon if these first impressions hold, it was worth the price of admission.
Still too wet out here to get the tractor out and set the benches, but the ponds full. This revolver is soaking , think I'll throw a Mepps on and see if one those lunkers is hungry.........

Very nice!
doesn't look like a lot of break-in will be necessary.
My KC seems to have a preference for 3.2 gr. Bullseye and 125 gr. LSWC. Same as the S&W M15. Same for the Python.
Haven't found the right load for the GP100 tho. Since acquiring the ponies, the Ruger has been more or less just taking up space. o_O :scrutiny:

Yes!
I bought an early production 3" KC and it went back to Colt one time.
Bought a new 4.25" Python and it, too went back to Colt once.
Juts picked up a new Anaconda today. We'll see if we can get one of of three without a trip back to Momma.
Sorry your Colts have been less than perfect. Mine only have a couple boxes each through them without incidents. My Python was missing the lock set screw in the rear sight and Colt instantly sent a replacement.

The Anacondas have been trouble free.

Well, I took the Anaconda out of its box to put it in the safe and I noticed carbon on the face of the cylinder. "MFR test rounds." I thought.
Then I looked in the end of the barrel. VERY noticeable copper fouling and carbon/powder fouling!! Looks like more rounds fired than just 'test firing', to me.

I've had my eye on one of these lovely machines for quite some time. I decided late last yr that I should probably start saving for one. Figured that after 6 yrs of production, Colt would have the bugs worked out, as I had read mixed reviews when the King Cobra first returned to the lineup.
But, as fate would have it, something else came up earlier this yr that put the brakes on me buying it. I mean, call me an idiot, but there's no way I was walking away from a super clean 1984 Redhawk 357 with a 5.5" barrel for $800. Nope, wasn't passing on that, and it looked like I wouldn't be grabbing one of these Targets for a while
Enter this major project we got going on at the shop, and the 7 12s that came with it. I had already put together the funding for the honey do list the misso is demanding this yr, and when that OT hit, well opportunity knocked.
I cut out of work a little early today to go pick up this sweet chunk of stainless and wood. She's blowing all of 40mph out here with rain, so I'll need to wait till tomorrow evening to take my first cracks with it..
I hope I'm not disappointed for the price of admission
Here's my 3rd 357 magnum, and my first snakeView attachment 1142232 View attachment 1142233

Congrats on your new Colt, the 357mag is one of the two most favorite calibers I load, AA #9 is another great powder for the mag...more range reports needed. :)

As soon as she drys a bit more, I'll get out back and let her rip. I certainly agree with you on #9, I like it in 357 and especially hi pressure 45 Colt loads. My first session with this revolver I used a load my Freedom 83 single action really digs, a 125 with #7. I'd say the Colt shot them well, and I just happened to grab another 100 of those XTP bullets this morning. But this girl will get the plated Xtremes for the most part. The shop I stopped into for the bullets had the same KCT in the display case for a bit more than I got this off the broker, including transfer fee to my FFL, so I certainly did just fine with this one.
Once that yard gets dry enough, I'll set all the plates up and the real fun can start
Cheers
