Cleanup day at Cheatham Co Range

may I make a suggestion?

Invest in some 1/2" rebar and some bags of instant gravel mix concrete.

Put a few pieces of rebar in each hole of the stacked concrete blocks, then fill with mixed concrete.

Much stronger than just concrete blocks.

To all those who worked on the range--a sincere thanks. I somehow missed this event if it was posted here. I would have made the trek out to do some work this afternoon. Spent the morning helping a friend move.

I would be happy to contribute a few cinder blocks to the cause. I also have one folding chair similar to the one that was shot up. It's just sitting in my attic, so it could sit out at Cheatam Co. range just as easily.

I was planning a trip out there soon to pattern a turkey gun. Can't shoot 30 or 40 yards at Owl Hollow or the new Stones River range, and so Cheatam is the only place for such patterning.

It makes me mad to see what some idiots will do for "fun."

It was a long day at the range. I keep thanking that I must be getting tired because my feet were feeling like they weigh a ton!!!!!! could have been because of the 5 lbs of mud that was caked on them!!!!!

We thought that OEF VET might get his truck stuck a few times. It was so muddy in some places that it was like quick sand.

The cleaning made a big differance. I hope that they re-open the range.

I have picts also to add but have not the life force to post them at this time.

must rest.

thanks to all that came out and to the ones that can to shoot but stayed to clean.

there is a lot more that could be done the task has just begun.....

Nice effort. Always good to see responsible gun owners do their thing.
Have a very small range in the Sierras I'll be cleaning up in March. No facilities to vandalize, but it sure was a littered mess the last time I visited it.

Ack. And here I hoped that being the one with the camera would keep me out of the pictures.

That's Intune on the left, his son Addison and there's OEF_VET heading out to the right. Pay no attention to the fat man in the middle.

the camera sees all!! BryanP!!!

There's also a sign on the range road, less than a mile away, stating "No Shooting Except In Designated Areas."

It's perforated.

Thats why a local club offers a $1000 reward for information that leads to conviction of anyone vandalizing or shooting up the fixtures at their outdoor range.

*sigh*

Well, I was suppose to post some pics tonight. Ya see, I just got my new camera on Friday. Today at work, I got the pics off the camera. However, bowlcut and I were too busy drooling over the 6 megapixel pics that we forgot to upload. :uhoh: Perhaps tomorrow I'll remember.

Bryan, you're in a few of my pics. I'll make sure to post those first. ;)

Gee, thanks Darrin.

Could that sumptin make its way over to my house? ;)

I suspect Darrin would object most vociferously. ;)

He does have a sweet digicam. I brought my Canon S50 5 megapixel, and it does take very nice pictures, but then he had to show up with a brand new 6 megapixel Canon EOS. Of course, they're both overkill for stuff you're just going to post online.

i honstly forgot.... I stayed in all day and didnt do anything. Mostly cause i was so busy doing other things all weekend. When I got to work Darrin reminded me I didnt show up....doh.

But Im provideing Darrin with enough space to post most any pic. The place looked horrible dang I had no idea it was that bad. Looks great tho. Hopefully the ranger sees some want in us and good stuff to us. I dont see taking more than every 6 months to clean it up to looking that good. Id say see if we can convince him to use metal target holders that would last longer than the 4x4's people like to see if they can cut in 2....

ill make it to the next one....if i actualy check the net the night before :D

What? My foot? ;)

Hey Frank, I like Kevin's idea. Think you could approach the TWRA with an offer to clean the place up twice a year? (We could pick warmer months, too.)
