What is the general consensus on Magpul's MOE line of AR accessories? Anyone have experience with the polymer Iron Sights and how sturdy they are. Or their handguards, are they lighter? I know I like their Pmags, and that their other items are pretty high quality. I Just wanna get a feel for their cost-effective line before I jump on the wagon. Thanks.

Oh I almost forgot to mention, Pics are your friends!

I just replaced my M4 handguards with the MOE handguards. I really like the feel of the MOE. They are great. They look a little ugly, but they are pretty solid and easy to mount rail sections for lights.

polymer iron sites?:p

that makes me wonder... what is an alternative term for irons?

anyway... I have heard nothing but good things about mag pul accessories. whether it is their mags, stocks, pistol grips, flip up sites or "polymer irons"

Another +1 on the handguards. We have them on our S&W MP15 and they are great. They're a lot lighter than most rail systems. The only downside is that you have to buy the rails separately. It annoyed me that S&W released a model with all the moe stuff on it a week after I put the handguard on ours.

Magpul MOE stuff is great stuff for a budget. It allows you to kit out a carbine for real cheap with quality stuff. Let's add this up...

Stock $60
Grip $20
Handguards $30
That's $110 total...less than many stocks alone...

The MBUS sights are not part of the MOE line, but they do give you inexpensive options for a set of sights. Not sure on the price, though.

The MOE handguards are not meant to be a rail system, but do give you inexpensive and simple options for easy light and maybe VFG or sling attachment.

I have the MOE stock, like the magazines great quality, very tight fit, and couldnt have less play or movement on the buffer tube.
I wander if the MOE grip would fit a gas piston rifle, if so I might try one someday when the gas piston upper makes it here.

I liked the handguards but sold them just to put a free float rail on it. I like the grip, but will probably sell the stock, it's really loose on my M&P15. If it wasn't so loose I'd love the stock.

The Magpul MBUS sights are vaporware.

Other than that, the MOE line seems to be a great way to get the general approximation of Magpuls other stuff, but without some features that many never fully utilize to begin with.

While my plan is to use various Magpul products to the fullest of their design, to those with lesser plans for their accessories the MOE lineup seems like a logical choice.

Magpul can't seem to find any. John

My carbine and I love the MOE stuff:

Didn't remember the exact color when I ordered the parts though. I will add the MOE BUPS when they become available.

It is probably difficult to buy the MBUS sights from Magpul because S&W is using them on their M&P15 MOE model - which is a sweet little carbine.

My only experience with the MOE stuff so far was handling a S&W M&P15 MOE at the Fort Worth gun show; but I was impressed. Everything is well thought out, quality equipment and at a decent price.

I don't know how rugged the MBUS sights will prove to be over time; but it is kind of hard to beat a spring-deployed, low-profile, two-aperture, windage adjustable folding rear sight for $80. Given the price point and Magpul's past reputation, I'd take that risk. Having said that, I still like the sight picture on my Troy irons better - though the deployment of the MBUS is pretty slick.

The MBUS is definitely not vaporware though. Several of the rifles at the gun show were wearing them.

Tapco makes affordable stocks and handguards too if you haven't checked them out.

I just put an MOE handguard on a bushmaster carbine, and it's very loose - so loose it may not be worth adding the rails to the bottom for a grip.

I love the MOE stocks & grips, though.

Magpul started out with some cool ideas and products that were both great looking and practical. Nowadays they've added some things to their lineup that I really don't care for. While the Pmags, PRS stocks, and Miad grips are 100% great the rest strikes me as Tapco themed. What Tapco did to every other AK out there Magpul is trying to do to AR15's.

Ethereal, that's not the case.

Magpul produces very useful items that are of high quality and not a bit of it is junk. Their stuff fills niches and you are assured of getting a quality item.

The sights? Fufills a need for low cost, affordable BUIS.

The handguards? A low cost option to easily attach the bare necessities of accessories. Yes, you could drill a standard handguard and install a rail, but the Magpul product makes it very easy and neat. It's no free float rail system, but it gets the job done for $30 bones.

The sling and sling plate? An innovative option that gives you a good sling plate that enables you to easily switch shoulders, plus a sling that can do double duty as both a single and a two point.

I totally disagree.

Magpul is a company of problem solvers. Their products are all innovative and high quality.

Tapco is... well... Tapco is nothing like that.

I do not have a personal need or desire to acquire every Magpul product out there, but many of their products are "must have" upgrades. They are hitting niches left and right.

I can't believe I just saw someone compare Magpul with Tapco.

Magpul makes quality items that fill a need or at worse a nitch. Tapco makes cheap copies and ok-at-best stuff.
