bear with me here, I know this scenario is totally bunkem but bear with me.

You're leaving your house without a firearm (you live in california). As you're opening the door, someone kicks it in and points a gun in your face. They lead you back to your bedroom and tell you to open your closet, which you do. You've got a safe in your closet with a handgun and priceless valubles. They tell you to open the safe, so you go inside the walk-in closet and they lock the door behind you. You open the safe, now you've got the valubles and the handgun.

Now what do you do? Giving up the valubles is NOT an option. Soon the assailant is going to unlock the closet door and demand the valubles...What do you do?

size of closet? position of door? size and type of safe?

If it's just me, I'm hardly going to just walk out with the loot. Let him come to me, it ain't like they got hostages.

So they lock you alone in a room with a gun (unknowning we'll say), and will soon come in? Looks they committed a serious tactical error. You have the element of surprise, and they have to come through a door to get to you. Maybe the safe and its door can be used as cover, maybe not. But if you won't give up the valuables, sounds like a fight is the only way out.

>size of closet? position of door? size and type of safe?
3x4. closet is about door width. Safe is a small 1'x1'x1' handgun safe.

>If it's just me, I'm hardly going to just walk out with the loot. Let him come >to me, it ain't like they got hostages.

Then he'll count to thirty and fire through the door, and take the loot with him, its far safer to shoot in than to shoot out. When you are in the closet you there is no place to hide or shielding to use. See diagram.

Maddox for the 5 bonus points please (and you're drawing looks just as bad as one of his :p)

Okay, I'd assume he'd wait until I got the safe open then open fire so I'd lay on the floor and if he fired he'd pretty much give away his position (as he couldn't aim at where he thinks I'm standing unless he's standing in front of the door) so I start shooting ... a little spray and pray and pray.

loot on shirt, when he opens door be off to one side with both hands under shirt holding it up like a tray. gun in hand out of view under loot.

A little question to distract and bangy bangy.

Or go low to one side of the door or other and play the odds he won't hit you til you can figure out where he is.

Armed robber is in my house and keeping there against my will???

The scenario leads me to think myself and the robber are the only ones in the house.

OK, I'm in the closet with the door closed. I've retrieved my loaded pistol from the safe. I'm facing the closet door with pistol at the ready. As soon as the doorknob starts to turn I'm firing most of the available ammo through the hollowcore door where I'd expect the COM on the robber to be positioned given that his hand is on the doorknob. Then I'd probably flatten myself as much as possible against one of the sidewalls and reacess.

In the absence of any detectable movement from outside the closet I might consider opening the door, or just wait for the cavalry to arrive in response to neighbors calling about multiple shots fired. I also might break through the drywall between the studs to exit into another room in the house.

I'm thinkin' that 4 or 6 or 15 rds through the door (depending on weapon) will probably convince all but the most determined robber that it might be in his best interest to exit, stage left...if he can.

i push the candy-red button hanging around my neck that sends 10 legions of swat teams to my rescue. oh yeah, they also bring me a fresh pair of Captain America underoos.

Simple solution.

I input the 'other' combination into the safe. It rotates around to reveal the firepole. I slide down the firepole to my secret Superhero hideout. I quickly dress in my costume, get back outside. Get on roof, swing through the window like that other guy with the black cape. Kick the dude's butt, and deliver him bound and gagged on the front lawn to the amazement of police and nieghbors. Make dramatic statement about Truth and Justice, and fire my grappling hook into the ether and swing away onto my daily patrol, grumbling about being behind schedule.

Fire 10 shots through the door and yell, "Oh Sh**!! WHERE'S THE MAG!!"... When he laughs and opens the door I put the other 7 in his head

Cause I've got a Glock!!! :neener:

Why would they close the door behind you? If I were to take up a life of home invasion robberies I don't think that I would let the vicitm out of my sight. Let alone off by himself opening up something that for most people who have guns, keep their guns there :what: .

But to play along: Seeing as how it was a walk in I would try to use the safe as cover & shoot through the gap between the safe door & body (actually I would go out the window that is in my closet but that is just me). If that didn't work then on the floor up against the wall that the door is on (door knob side if possible) & ambush him on the way in.

In the Closet

So I had a martial arts teacher that once asked us what we would do if we were in this situation. Then he should us a picture of two men one choking the other. He asked us each to tell what we would do and as person after person failed to answer his question correctly he made us run laps around the gym. When he finialy got to me, one of the lowest students in the class everyone before me had said everything that I could think of to do except for one thing. When he asked me what I would do if I was in this situation I told him that I would be the one doing the choking. He said that that was the answer that he was looking for. So for your example I would be the person with the gun and if you have already seen my face your not leaveing the house alive anyways so I think I just start shooting into the closet that you are in.
