Criminals Robbing Houses, Posing As Police, What to DO?

back when I was in high school (I am 50 now), there was a rash of what we would now call home invasions. not sure that was what it was called back then. a number of times the perps pretended to be cops, sometimes utility workers.

it went on for many months before the local paper finally printed the full story (or at least a little more of it) so people knew not to open their doors just because someone was in uniform or claiming to be a cop.

the local PD was absolutely livid with the newspaper for telling the truth about it.

...". Meaning that in the literal words of that statute if you store an ounce of marihuana under your mattress and have a steel door, you would appear to be a felon in Illinois, under that statute.
Don't store it in your house then.

Actually, if you don't have any, you'll be less likely to suffer from either a raid or criminals.

The police are becoming a paramilitary groups with Encrypted radio's and full automatic weapons. The below picture is from the University of Miami Police Department.... Yeah...
A lot of universities don't allow CCW. The cops there should be well armed and be able to stop an active shooter.

Jimbo: "Actually, if you don't have any, you'll be less likely to suffer from either a raid or criminals."

Obviously. But there's a certain proportionality problem. Some people want to make staying up past your bedtime a federal felony. That doesn't mean it makes any sense so to do, or that it would accomplish any good. I personally would like to see all members of a certain international heresy seized and deported from our shores -- and I even think it would accomplish a lot of good. That doesn't mean it ought to be enacted into law.

Nonetheless, he was complaining about not being able to fortify a house with drugs to keep out the cops. Due to the way laws are currently, that's not really unreasonable at all

just stop the no-knock raids.
Criminals are often violent. The cops need some way to capture violent criminals while reducing risk to them. Even if they stopped no-knock raids, they'd probably have to resort to other "shock and awe" tactics that criminals would copy.

criminals would copy.

uhhh The police action discussed herein is vaguely criminal. That is the problem. If there were not any no knock's issued, then the criminals wouldn't be able to dress up like police and convincingly confuse citizens long enough to get the drop on them.

Frankly, "to catch a thief..." type mentality is a bad one to start with.

And now that this thread has drifted (like they all do) into an off topic political discussion on militarization of the police, this one is consigned to the cyber graveyard where virtually all the other threads on this topic reside. And you all wonder why these threads are usually closed out of hand.
