2 years ago we had a spirited discussion on the Colt Forum regarding SNs on existing Walkers. One post listed known Walkers which pretty much covers the list in Whittingtons book 35 years ago plus some adds since then

The military Walkers were marked by Company and number, but I believe they were also marked sequentially from 1-1000 with a very small stamp on on the back of the cylinders. Since the C Co. Walkers were finished and shipped first the cylinder numbers were 1-220. I believe the A Co. was next shipped, numbered 221-440 and so on B-E Cos. How do I know this? There been several auctions of verified Walkers over the years that show pics of the cylinder backs and actually describe this feature on original Walkers.

Anybody recall the serial numbers of the Walkers that sold in the Rock Island Auction Co. from the Will Hoffield collection a few years ago? I missed winning one by this much >-<
