I'm considering picking up a P07 or P09 in 9mm. It'll be used primarily as a range gun, although the P07 gives me the option to carry it if necessary. My question is whether there's any difference in the accuracy between the two. If the P09 is more accurate due to a longer barrel, I'd lean that way as I'm pretty well set with my carry guns.

Both guns will be more accurate than the shooter. If range only, I would go with the 09.

Never shot a P-09, but I'm a big fan of my P-07.

The 09 is just taller and longer.

Even though they are supposed to be identical except for width and height, I had a 09 and traded it for an 07 because it fit my hand better.

Here was my best target on the first outing with the 09.

It's pretty much an individual thing as with most similar guns. You should shoot both and see how you do. I like the 09 for HD and the 07 for part time carry and HD. If you are putting a light and laser on it then I would go for the bigger one just for that reason. "Chances are you won't be carrying it around", as removing the laser or laser/light combo, get's old fast.

Any accuracy difference should be extremely minimal.

In my experience the P09 is very accurate for a plastic gun. I think it is great.

P07. Its just more versatile if you might CC at some point.

I had a similar issue with my 75bd. Great gun, very accurate and I did well with it in matches. However it was quite long and heavy for CC, clunking on the chair every time I sat down. I sold it and got a P01 which is every bit as accurate but lighter and easier to carry.

Thanks for the input. I ordered the P07 based on the flexibility of being able to carry it, if I want.

I went to the last gunshow (I attended) with the intention of either a p-09 or CZ75. I wanted another fullsized 9mm....

The P-07 almost won out in the end, if they'd had a 14 version of the 07 I'd have picked that up instead. But I found a FDE edition of the 09 so that should have been a no brainer.

My 09 is way more accurate then I, and hitting the 100yd gong isn't hard at all. I have around 2-3k through it now without any failures. Solid pistol at a good price.

Now I want a 07...wish they made them in 45 or 10mm. A 09 in 10mm would get my cash today.
