It was a little dry and rusty, but most of that buffed off easily and the rest was on the front sight which I obviously cut off when shortening the barrel.
I miss the magic wand feeling of the longer barrel, but now it's the perfect packing rifle for the New England woods, which was the goal. Couldn't cut down Grandpa's .22, after all. I'll just have to get another one full length in .22WMR. :-D
