Saw this in another thread. How many of you bought an EBR just because of the threatened ban?

I was perfectly happy with my mini-30 till the post Sandy Hook fiasco took place. Granted I waited and didn't spend a dime over "normal" retail price but I still had no real desire for an AR and was content to go years after getting out of the Army without one. Call me a panic buyer I suppose but I did finally get one with a good supply of mags, even sitting on a slight supply of ammo too.

The wife got her Sig 9mm with extra 15-rd mags for the same reason.

Who else bought only because they didn't want you too?

It definitely makes me look at guns I'd otherwise probably ignore. It's never the only factor, but no doubt, I'd have fewer guns if they weren't always talking about banning something!

I had never wanted an AR, but something changed. One day I just "needed" one. I found a good deal, and bought it. Fun gun, setup great for our common late night coyote visits. I nearly sold it in the "crazy days" ( and probably should have, at double my purchase price), but the (silly) nagging fear of a grandfather type ban kept me from it. So no, the possibility of a ban didn't get me to buy one, but the thought of one did keep me from selling it. :scrutiny:

On the Monday after the tragedy I was in my LGS looking at the rack. In my 50+ years of firearms ownership, hunting, shooting, reloading, etc. I never considered an AR type (just not my cup-o-tea).

I was there specifically to buy an AR just because it was exactly what the antis were going to focus on and quickly. I was one of probably a dozen that thought exactly like me. Their inventory supported us and in a few days it was Mother Hubbards Cupboard.

I still haven't warmed up to it but it has a valuable position in my gun safe (Ruger SR556) along with a healthy supply of ammo.

I intend to buy a Daniel Defense or a Colt before the 2014 elections. Don't have any use/much desire for one, but I'll get it, just in case.

I gave it more than serious thought, but didn't have the money. I even tried to make decisions regarding which guns I could sell to partially fund it, but "they" are unhappy with my possession of the ones I already have, too, so I figured I'd keep quantity over type fr the time being.

But, now that prices are back down, and ammo is (slightly) becoming available again, my eyes will be open again soon..

(I did just buy a pistol that has become an "assault weapon" or other prohibited weapon in several states since NewTown, but that wasn't politically motivated. Just what we consider a "standard service pistol, a Ruger P95.)

I had been thinking of getting an AR when the conn. tragedy happened. I saw what was coming and my wife said get one before they were gone. Who wants to argue with their wife? So I got a Colt and really like it.

I'm really more of a revolver man and I have a thing for Savage model 24's BUT....

I refer to my DPMS LR308 as "the rifle Barak Obama sold me when he moved into the White House".

Bill Clinton sold me a Franchi SPAS12, Colt Match Target HBAR, and a Beretta 92 with extra magazines.

Charles Schumer sold me 11,000 rounds of Federal. 22LR, which I have been very thankful for in recent years, as I still have about half of it.

I'm waiting for my LGS to get AR's back in stock since the CO mag ban came into effect my LGS sent them back to the warehouse until they could fix their computer description for 30 round capacity and be able to give a 10 round mag with the rifle.:cuss:

it's going to be for my wife who wants to see about getting into tactical rifle competition. And a good bit to snub our noses at our state gov.

I don't need to worry about mags due to my military service and multiple deployments, I stocked a plenty of mags so I can still enjoy 30 round mag dumps in honor of CO poorly enacted laws.:neener: At least once .223 starts showing up again:banghead:

I've always been fond of bolt actions, never even considered an AR or even a regular semi auto rifle or handgun. I've been looking at them now and yes, I'll buy one just because they don't want me to have one. I hate me some liberal politicians!

Yup. I bought my Saiga 12 because it makes politicians in california wet themselves.

Then I bought some drums for it for the same reason.

And a slidefire stock. . .

This guy did.

If someone starts telling me they don't think I should have something, it is the best motivation for me to go out and buy it.

Same with ammo.

"Why do you need thousands of rounds of ammo? No one needs that...."

"But what about zombies?"

a few years ago i kinda got the itch for one. purchased a full sized bushmaster.good rifle but heavy.then some chick walked into the shop i work at with a m4 type bushmaster.got it and a mini cheap.sold the full size bushy to a buddy.i like the m4 type rifles but ill have to say i dont shoot it much.its more of a investment than anything. my son does love to shoot it but now he has gotten his own.i dont care to hunt up the brass in the grass so i stik with my 223 bolt rifles.

honestly i think i got one just to know how they work and master that type of rifle.if someday in the future i need to pik one up out of the dirt and shoot it, ill be able to.

I've never bought any guns because they didn't want me to. But, today I actually told the wife all the anti-gun crap you hear in the media does make me want to go buy every gun I can get a hold of just to spite the people who are gun ignorant.

I haven't done it yet, though........yet. haha

I thought about buying one. If I can find plentiful affordable ammo for it, most likely I'll buy one this year.

Yep, I bought a mini-14, a Beretta 92fs, 3 AR's, a HiPoint 9mm Carbine, Springfield XD-40, and another 9mm with a 16 round capacity mag in FMK, all because of the Government saying they don't want us to have 'em. I also converted my Remington Model 1100 to an 8 shot semi-auto, with a 22" barrel, but I enjoy the dickens out of each and everyone of 'em.

Absolutely, childish, expensive but did not matter. Bought my vepr put on the baddest compensator I could find. I love it!

I did not purchase another firearm, but have always been on a quest for some small way to irritate "them" whenever I can. "Them" are anti's, liberals, politicians, city officials, and police administrators. Nowadays the thought of my fellow citizen patriots "getting away" with something that defies "their" laws/wishes/intent helps to make my remaining time in California just a little bit less dismal.

Well, not an EBR, but I did buy a handgun for just that reason.

I wanted to buy a specific Charter Arms revolver. In L.A. city it didn't fit the size criteria, so could not be sold there. Went to an adjoining city, and while they don't have the size restriction, I found out it wasn't on the "approved" list.

So, I ask what the shop had in stock that would just burn the buns of the regulators. It's small, has a maximum capacity mag for California, and is too small to be sold in L.A.

Yes, I bought a S&W M&P 15 Performance Center in 2008 for two reasons. First, I was concerned I wouldn't be able once the gun grabbers got everything in place. Second, I bought it because unlike the madness sweeping the country, this gun dealer had not raised his prices.

It really is a sweet gun, though.

I picked up several 30rd AR mags, even though I don't much like using them and haven't even opened the packages. Just because they're evil >:)
