Either because it's a collector, you have no ammo for it, it's an investemnt and you want to keep it "new in box" etc ?

Also have you ever liked a gun so much you bought an identical one, and I mean same caliber, color, etc. Maybe keep one to shoot and keep the other in the safe ??

Edit .. Sorry about the terrible spelling, I meant to say "Do you have a rifle you've never shot "

NO! i only buy guns i intend to shoot. and it is rare that i have one for more than a few days before i shoot it. guns are for shooting, GOLD is for collecting / investing!

Yes, It is a brand new Interarms Mark X 30-06 from 1989. Never fired!!! I bought it new because the price was right and I love the Mark X action. I did mount a set of Millet rings and one piece base about 10 years ago. I also have a NIB Mark X action from same time. Just haven't picked a barrel for it.
So many guns, so little time!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, happens all the time.

A few 22s and a Marlin 45-70. But I'll get to them. It's something nice to look forward to when the wife kids let me get to the range.

Yes, I have a few rifles that are new and unfired that are taking up safe space along with a couple of NIB shotguns and a couple of NIB handguns. Maybe one day I'll get the hankering to shoot em.

I have a Winchester model 61 .22 LR pump action that gets oiled every 3-4 months and put back in the safe. I have shot it when I was younger, but it does not get shot any more.

My uncle has probably around 100 guns he's been collecting since the 70's, he hasn't even shot most of them, he just likes having them. I've tried buying guns off of him and he'll never sell anything once he has them. Me and him are very close and I'm the only one he talks guns with so I'm sure he would give me some if anything happens to him. He actually is the person most responsible for me liking guns.

Sure, there are a number I've never shot...

I have a Mosin Nagant 1891 that doesn't headspace right, but is too nice looking to get rid of.

A Trapdoor Springfield I've just not found ammo for - and is frankly too pristine to shoot.

Plus other I've acquired but haven't shot because I have not had any spare time to get to the range....

YES! I bet there are 10 I have not shot. Price's are good on used right now IF you do your homework and are always ready to buy.
Don't worry I'll get to them .... after vacation, maybe this fall, after hunting.

I also have an HRA Collector's grade M1 Garand that I have never fired. My best estimate is that it has had perhaps a couple hundred rounds through it. I base this upon the relative wear rate of my M1A that I bought new. I have other M1's so I firgure I will keep this pristine for a bit longer.

I also have one of the Martini rifles in 577-450. It was one of those brought in from Nepal (??). I would like to try it, but have never gotten ammo for it.

Will

To a gun collector guns ARE gold. Every time you see a pristine old classic for sale somewhere you can thank people who view guns less utilitarian as you do.

My unfired specimen is a 1950 Winchester m70 Supergrade NIB. Paperwork included. I don't know if it's ever had the bolt in it. It is museum quality and I appreciate that. I have plenty of other stuff to shoot.

I can barely wait to shoot a new rifle, but I have a few guns I've fired very little. I have a Remington 870 that I've only fired a total of ~20 times: its a home defense piece so all I need from it is that it be there when needed and go bang every time.

It's kind of a shame. I saw this gun at my Class III dealer, it's never been shot.

Whoever buys it will probably not shoot it either as to not hurt the value. It still has stickers on the wood. He wouldn't even let me move the selector switch as it scratches the receiver. "

HOLY SHNIKES ?! what a cool store. i'd have a hundred $k of debt if i lived in free america and could legally get those.

to the OP:
i have rifles that i have had for months before shooting only becuase i work about 70 hours a week and weekends are usually taken by the wife and kid. i have no close rifle buddies who live around me except my dad and its a big ordeal for him to get to the range when our schedules premit.

i do get to the indoor pistol range about 1x a month becuase its pretty close and they are open till midnite

I've got an unfired HK94 that begs to be shot...but...I can't bring myself to do it.

It may have to go soon just so I don't shoot it

None of those reasons. I have just one un-shot rifle, but it won't be a virgin for long.
