Do you have a thought out, well communicated home defense plan that everybody in the house knows? What does your wife do? What do your kids do? What do you do? If you hear something in your house to you go to it, or do you wait for it to come to you. When I took my CHL class here in Oregon that was one of the questions that was raised by the instructional team (all of whom were county police). I took it to heart and, when we still had kids at home, we made a plan, discussed it, and made sure everybody knew what to do. We had the same kind of plan in case our house caught on fire. Thank goodness neither thing every happened. Though we are in our sixty's my wife and I still have a plan. Good shooting;)

Yes. Tactical discussions are as common here as are comments on the excellent cooking!

:D

'Course, I do all the cooking. . .

The same time my son had to make an escape route in case of a house fire, we made other contingencies for other at home situations.

No. our neighborhood is really low threat and we have dogs. I keep a handgun on my nightstand and within arms reach when I'm in the family room downstairs. If the neighborhood gets dicey, then I'll institute a plan. With my Mossberg 500 and Bushmaster Shorty plus some more rifles and pistols, I feel upgunned enough to adequately defend my home.

Yep, we have a plan. Emily, our boxer, acts as my early warning system. She barks, I respond. I grab my CZ-75 and my cell fone. I call the cops, let the dog loose, and prepare to repel boarders!
