go to home defense weapon

I'm sorry to say it's just my carry gun, a Sig P365 loaded with some good Winchester hollow points.

The thing is, I practice the most with it, since it's my carry gun. Every time I come home from shooting, I load it up again with those hollow points and put it back in the quick-safe. Yeah, it's got to be in the safe, as my wife's daughter (17) is impulsive and has ZERO common sense. She'll do anything to impress someone or satisfy an impulse. She once pointed a loaded gun at me in jest IMMEDIATELY after I told her the rules of safe gun handling. Never trusted her since. Sorry to say I didn't come into her life early enough to raise her better.

I'll just choose to believe that you did not intend this remark as a slur on the gun owners (and their intelligence) who still reside in this state.
I wouldn't take that as a slur, but more of a hard-bitten truth. Some Washington people are waking up here with the surging crime, but probably not enough to change the voting patterns. I have my work here, and my grown children. Maybe grandkids some day (crossed fingers). I'm not moving yet, although the wife loves Wyoming.

As for my go to firearms, I've got a Glock 30 in the bedroom safe, and the mag for a 9mm AR in the closet. We live on three acres; if I need to reach out and parboil someone, I have a clip for a Romanian M44 Mosin.

There might or might not be some sort of handgun closer, but what I'd feel best about having in my hands in the God forbid event that it were needed, is a short, maneuverable, and reliable 12 gauge.

That is a really pretty gun.

Apparently, a couple posts that I made in this thread, and at least one other member's post, have been deleted. I guess that it's permitted to disparage some that live in a particular state, implying that they've allowed themselves to be oppressed, while those who would defend remaining in a particular state, are not allowed to rebut?

Is there really a way to promote armed self-defense without the discussion becoming political?

Upstairs in my nightstand I keep a Canik SC Elite. Downstairs is the Glock 20 with 10mm JHP. In the garage is a Taurus 357 revolver. I feel like that should be sufficient.

Pants on gun on is my rule.

So one of my CCW's on my hip or in my pocket. A Mossberg 590 with weapon mounted light (WML) in the closet next to my desk. A Glock 19 with WML in my night stand and one of my AR15's with WML near the bed.

My wife and I both keep our CCW guns with us at all times,on nightstand at night as well.We have an early warning Dogo Argentine system. We are on 92 acre horse farm that is gated but we are prepared. We are Glock folks ,Steph has light laser in black/gray,hardchrome and blue for me. hchrome.jpg sausage.jpg wifey.jpg

The 11.5" SBR in this photo.
It leans up against the wall by the headboard... loaded, but on safe.

Then there's this... with 9 pellet 00 Federal Flight Control. (not the rounds in photo)
Open front gun wood cabinet, cowboy style, grab on the fly. (former china cabinet)
Again... loaded, but on safe.

Of course, whatever my carry gun of the day was... rests on the nightstand full of 124 GR HST.
One such choice.

Oh yeah... and this pretty girl... an 89 pound German Shepherd...

Pistol, usually a Glock 19, that matches what my CCW is (or near enough in terms of safeties and/or triggers) with a WML sits by my bed.

I have kids and might need to deal with them so I don’t usually keep a loaded long arm for HD, though a .223 carbine and loaded mags is relatively ready in the safe should something crazy kick off.

Alarms and 3 dogs are my early warning devices, especially the collie.

I have a fully loaded 1911 in every room of the house, and even though we no longer have any young'uns running around, each one is in an easy to get into, and hidden gun safe style box securely anchored in such a way that it would take some considerable effort to steal them. Any of them will help me to get into the master bedroom where I have my KelTec KSG Bullpup loaded with "00" Buck. I have attended several training courses with this shotgun and cleared the house without any problems.
