My go to home defense weapons, a Taurus Judge pistol/shotgun, and a Mossberg 12 guage pump shotgun. both with 00 buck.

Whats your go to home defense weapon? I do understand it may vary if you live in the country, with your nearest neighbor miles away, but I live in the city, with houses on both sides and the front and rear of my house

I keep my taurus 357 mag in a holster clipped on my bedframe right where my hand can naturally grab it while laying in bed. And 12 gauge loaded with 00buck close by. Theres also an ar15 few feet away in safe thats ready to go if need be

I also have a rossi 38/357 16 inch barreled carbine, nearby if need be and if that is not powerful enough, a Henry all weather 45-70, for when elephants or bull buffalos go bump in the night

Western Field Model 31, which is a Moses Browning design 12 gauge, Stevens 620, 28 inch full with #2 lead. I can't seem to find any 00 buck in 2.75 inch shells any more and in WI there isn't much use for #2 lead. I don't believe #2 duck loads would do much to penetrate plaster w/lathing. I could grab a .38 Spec. S&W Mod. 10 w/ Rem. 158 grn. HP but for a guy that shot trap most of my life, a 12 gauge pump makes me feel safe and secure.

Two .300 BLK subsonic suppressed ARs, one Mossberg Shockwave in 12 ga using mini buckshot shells alternating with slugs, two 1911s in 10mm, and a newly acquired Benelli semi-auto 12 gauge with 14" barrel. A few other options stashed in various places just in case. Getting to be more home invasions in the suburbs of Houston, and you can never be prepared enough nowadays. I'm hoping to move away from this place when I retire from the college I teach at in 3 years.

Sorry if I appear to be a little under-gunned but you know how us liberal college professors roll. I also have some stern words at the ready to use at them, too.

Right now there is a HK Expert in my bedside safe. Glock 19c in the wife’s side safe. EDC is in the cabinet near the front door. With a crossman pellet gun at the front door for pests.

A Smith model 10 and a Taurus 669 both loaded with 38 special. There's a 12 ga and 45 acp pcc nearby but the revolvers can be deployed from bed.

before I got the judge, I kept a Ruger security six , 38/357 mag or my copy of a COLT SAA uberti el patron 45 colt under the bed.
the 12 gauge pump mossberg is in the closet

Your leader and spokes-model says you only need to rack the slide on the Shockwave and any white supremacists who might be about to murder you will run away. You don't need all that other stuff. ;)

I like a handgun indoors. Keeping one hand free is important and there is no place inside my home for a shot greater than 10-15 feet. I think any long gun would be too cumbersome at those ranges.

I don't have a preference for the cartridge, 9mm, 40, or 45 are fine with me. But I do like to mount a light. I have two Smith M&P 45's. The compact is easier to carry, the full size with a 14 round mag and light is close by my bed. I have other guns I trust just as much, but this one has assumed nightstand duty. With the big magazine it isn't practical for carry, but that is a non-issue in a nightstand.

For carry I usually reach for a 9mm with 10-17 round capability that would be more compact than the big 45.

I have a short barreled 870 and an AR carbine nearby, but the handgun is what I reach for 1st.

I like the Judge with special 410 cartridges, has 3 30 caliber balls in each cartridge or shells. 5 rounds, x 3 equals 15 rounds going down range. If I need more I have my RUGER SECURITY SIX, AND MY UBERTI EL PATRON
copy of a COLT SAA 45 colt, 5 rounds, and 6 in the RUGER. If I need more than that I am indeed in deep skimshi, Plus 6 rounds in my Mossberg pump 12 guage with 00 buck
