I have a 10/22, Marlin 60, 597, 552, and many others...

10/22's are like many Ruger products, you buy it and then start throwing money at it until you get it where it SHOULD have been in the first place.

BUT, the problem is, no matter how much money you throw at a 10/22 it will still feel like a beached whale in your hands! You just can't do anything about that fat midsection! I just HATE carrying one for any distance.

So, even though some new models do look kinda cool, just picking up the one that i have, keeps me from buying another...

Wait... I wanna change my vote - I've got the best, most accurate 10/22 and with the easier magazine to boot... The Marlin Model 60:neener:. Now I remember why I haven't replaced my long lost Ruger.;)

Beached whale? Really?

I've always kind of liked them. Well enough that I bought mine at a pawn shop 10 or 12 years ago. :D

voted yes even though I rarely shoot it. My 60 is always taken out way ahead of the 10/22

I have one. Bought for my father for Christmas in 1965. He never liked the gun, although he appreciated the gift. I doubt if he put more than three or four boxes of cartridges through it. He died in 1975, and I've had the gun since - along with the box, all the paper work and the the little carbon of the sales slip from Meltzer's in Garfield NJ. I don't particularly like the 10/22 either, and the only it's been used by my boys and a few of the grandchildren on a few rare occasions. Guess it will sit in the cabinet until someone asks for it when I kick off.

(As an aside, I've always felt that shooting a 22 should require some personal involvement; thus I prefer pumps
and now my Henry, a 70th birthday present to myself three years ago. Great little rifle!)

I have 9 22s, none of them the 10 22. I am a big fan of marlins but have nothing against the ruger. I recently bought an lcp and I am very satisfied with it. Now I am really interested in the new 10 22 takedown model. My vote right now is a no but may become a yes as soon as i can afford that.

Yes.
And I'd like two more: First would be the new take-down model after they become more widely available. Second, I'd like a plain jane blued model that I could do a little light customizing to and just keep around as a general plinker.

The idea that you have to fix a 10/22 or spend money on it to make it work or make it accurate, is total and utter BS spread by idiots who don't know how to shoot in the first place.

Edited to add...It is ok to not like the 10/22. To each his own. Everybody has likes and dislikes. So, no offense to anyone who doesn't like it.

^^^^^ haha, i love it !!^^^^^^^ dont have a 10/22 , but had a glenfield 60 before. now shooting a remmie 581 bolt and im liking it. that pic of that one with a full-length stock looks sweet to me though..........

1 stainless/walnut that I have had for 25 years and 1 Talo stainless w/mannlicher stock I bought last year

Nope I don't have a 10/22. I wouldn't mind a chance to shoot one sometime to see what all the fuss is about but I've never felt the need to go looking for one. I have 2 Marlin model 60's. One of which I bought in the late 90's. I got it new with a Tasco 4 x 20 scope for $95 at Wal Mart IIRC. The other was my Fathers it is a Glenfield model 75c. There are some other .22's that look interesting to me but either of these will do anything I really "need" a .22 to do.

Last year I picked up a 1983 walnut sporter at the local gun show. Very accurate and fun as hell.

Fwiw, I had a Marlin Mountie when the 10/22 was introduced and didn't see a single benefit in owning an inaccurate autoloader.

Speak for yourself there bub. My 10/22 is quite accurate.

Have a Revelation (Marlin 60), Savage MKII heavy barrel target bolt,Ruger 10-22 modified .920 target chambered barrel and pillar beded synthetic stock.

Out of the box accuracy goes to the Savage but it cost the most near 300$ + with tax from Bass Pro,(caught me at a weak moment).

The Revelation (Marlin 60) sucks hind teat, especially to the Ruger, but it was the cheapest many moons ago, about 80$ from my neighborhood Western Auto.

The Ruger was a K-MART BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL, (remember those?) 129 $, Butler Creek Green Mountian Wylde chambered 20" crowned muzzle barrel and stock kit 125$, has the original receiver and factory stock trigger group.

Stand back gimme room, I'm gonna thump my chest and howl !!!

It will put 10 shots of Agulia 36 gr Super Extra into a dime size ragged one hole group @ 50yds with the cheap Simmons 18 power scope off the bench with ME shooting it, and I have a cataract the size of Victoria Falls on my shooting eye and I'm blind in the other
(just kidding about the blind part) !

Squirrels drop dead from fright when they hear the safety snick off.

By the way I voted yes.

this is mine.............
10/22 with Archangel stock, Ruger BX-25 Mag and red dot reflex sight
