Do you reload for other people?

I have reloaded ammo for a few friends. They have enjoyed shooting them and I enjoyed loading the ammo for them. No problems noted or reported as of this writing.

Only myself and my Dad. I've let friends use my skeet/trap loads if they run out, but I'm not worried about those that much. I would be worried about pistol rounds out of a progressive. Just don't trust it enough yet.

As I understand, loading for others is like cooking for others.

You can cook for your spouse all the time - she is not a bitch and is not going to sue you. You can cook for your friends that occasionally come to your house. However, if you open a restaurant that serves everybody who comes, you need to deal with licensing, zoning, insurance, and other hoops.

Its to easy to make a mistake. I am willing to take the risk to reload my own ammo, but I will not for anybody else.

Also I wont usually shot anybody elses reloads. I have shot a couple clip fulls of my friends 45acps but its very rare.

I also wont buy a used can of powder. You know sombody selling what they have left over after they change brands or something.

Can someone tell me what kind of powder and bullets it is physically possible to triple load a 357 magnum with? Only sell depleted uranium reloads. If you going to go jail, you might as well get life.

There are no powders that I know of dense enough that a full-power .357 load could be tripled without overflowing. But if you're loading to .38 Special pressures, you could do it with Titegroup, AA#2, AA#5, Zip, 231, and probably a few others (not Bullseye, Red Dot, or Clays, they are too bulky). It wouldn't be easy.

Several of these powders could be double-charged in full powered .357's without spilling though, with room to spare, just not enough room for a 3rd charge. HTH.

Think of it like this:

Hello everyone. I started flying a little less than a year ago, and when I did, I noticed a few things. The first thing I noticed was that as soon as I got my pilot license, friends began expecting me to transport them to their cottages and business meetings for free.

The next thing I noticed was that even though I have faith in my flying abilities, I still get a little nervous when carrying passengers. I guess I'm just a little more willing to risk injuring myself in an accident than risk hurting someone else.

Is there any reason why this fellow should feel obliged to transport his freeloading friends around and incur potential liability if anything goes wrong? No? Then why you would make those choices with your reloading hobby?

As has been said, if you have shooting friends the best way to share reloading with them is to show them your equipment, and give them advice on purchasing their own. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime, etc.

on a different note,,I have just recently started into reloading,,,and my buddy who got me HOOKED on this hobby,,,of wich I extremely enjoy,,,love loading and love shooting my reloads,,fine tuning my rifles to .5moa or less,,,well he had a savage 243 and a rem 7mm rem mag,,,,and no time for load development,,,so he provided my all components and gun's to play with and develop loads for,,,,,,,,,,,the only reason I said yes,,was because he will load his own rounds,,there for if any of my friends want to reload their own,,I'm more then happy to to do load development for their rifles

dozernomore - there for if any of my friends want to reload their own,,I'm more then happy to to do load development for their rifles

That's the fun part. This is kinda my brother-in-law's hobby. He buys or trades for a rifle, works up a few loads for it and plays with it to see just how accurate he can make it. Then sells it to fund another one so he can start the cycle again. There ain't no telling how many he has on hand at any one time but he rarely keeps one longer than a month. The people that get his hand-me-downs end up with some really nice shooters. I know I've got a few of them.

Back on topic, I will only load for me. It's not just because of the possibility of a lawsuit but I just couldn't stand it if I made a mistake that injured somebody.

Not at all. Too much liability.

I reload amunition for my immediate family. Have I ever for others? Yeah, I've slipped up by giving someone a box of loads a time or two, but I don't reload for anyone by request. Answer is: Come to my place. I'll teach you. You do the work with my equipment. That's how I learned, was on someone else's stuff. That got me hooked.
