My son has shown little interest in firearms (he's 3, bear with). He knows that they aren't toys, and that if he sees one, he should get me (not that I leave them out, but a good pre-planned response). As soon as he asks, and I think he gets the concept of "no-talky," he'll know. Until then, he gets to worry about other things, like Curious George and tadpoles and why ice cream isn't a valid breakfast choice.
