Concealed? Is it really?

Why bring it up? Is this the defining issue in your life? Would you go out of your way to give your views on abortion, religion, or politics with people who have not seen you in a while? Would you feel the need to examine your sex life or charitible contributions in front of people who may or may not even want to know?
Gun people just seem to find each other without alot of advertising. Like others have said if it comes up there's no need to hide from it but there is also no need to shove it down anybody's throat either. Unless it is the only thing that makes you who you are.

On a ''need to know'' basis only ... which is unfortunate but these days it seems the way to go.

Lemme see ... those who know I carry ........ wife, step kids, own kids, local FFL, and one or two club members... that's about it. Oh and of course, the County Sheriff :D

Keep your own council. If guns, 2nd A, RKBA , self-defense, yadda-yadda, comes up in conversation, fine, state your position, etc., but NO ONE needs to know you're packin'. No one. Period.

I've been legally carrying a gun for over 40 years

Over that time I've been in literally hundreds of social situation with friends, colleagues, acquaintances, relatives, etc. and the discussion of guns has come up more than once. Believe me it is absolutely no one's business as to my fondness for guns, my propensity to carry concealed, whether or not I hunt and so on. While I won't evade direct questions I also have made it a personal policy to not be the one to initiate such conversations. Particularly with those who are overtly anti gun. I don't see anything to be gained in public discussions about my personal feelings or attitudes about guns - nada! On the other hand, when I am with people that I know are of a like mind, I have had marvelous discussions and continue to do so. So, my advice is to find other things to talk about with old friends and, above all, don't you start the conversation. Good shooting;)
