I am looking for a new pocket carry pistol chambered in at least .32 auto. This Ruger LCP .380 looks very interesting and I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some feedback. Is it a reliable piece? How about comfort in relation to it's size?

Thanks!

Everything I have heard about the Ruger LCP is good. I don't own one yet, but plan to in the near future. It is just slightly larger and heavier then the Kel tec. This is because they beefed up some of the parts that Keltec had with the P3at. From what I hear, Typical Ruger reliability. I tried one at the local pawn shop. I like the weight, size and the trigger pull much better then the Kel-Tec.

I have had one for a few months. Over 300 rounds through it without a hitch. As with any new product, there have been some glitches and some folks have had to send theirs back to Ruger for adjustments, but from everything I have heard Ruger is standing behaind it and taking care of them. I am sure those are the minority, but like everything, when something goes wrong you hear the stories and it quickly seems to be more common than it actually is.

Fit and finish is superb. Much, much nicer than a Kel-Tec. Comfortable to shoot, I have done 150 rounds in one sitting with mine. After I first bought it and after 125 rounds or so without cleaning (without ANY cleaning, straight from the box, no lube) I started having some feed issues, but once it was cleaned and lubed, no problems.

Only thing I would knock it on are the sights. Very low profile, no snag, Very difficult to pick up on even in good lighting. I am looking for some sort of paint or tape to put on the front to make it a little more easily seen.

Never going to be a target gun, but accurate enough for SD range. I've tried FMJ, Remington green box HP, and Ranger SXT HP. All feed fine. I am very happy with mine.

I've got one . ..I've only put about 200 rounds through it so far but it hasn't had a single FTF, FTE or jam of any kind. It's pleasant to shoot with WWB but Speer Gold dot's get a bit old after a few magazines. :)

$289 for mine . . .

I've got one and I bought the wife one. Both have never had a FTF after 300 or so rounds each.

They are so small they could be on your key chain.

They are well built and easy to shoot.

So there is no way to change out the sights? It would be nice to have tritium "dot the i" sights on that bad boy. Also, how easy is it to break down? I've gotten soo used to my Glock 23 and Springfield XD45 being soo easy to field strip. I had to get rid of my Walther P22 for this reason. Well that and the .22 was too weak to bet my life on.

this is a point and shoot gun, not a target gun. Sites would only get in your way. to me it is basically a 7 yard and under defense gun. and excellent for what it was designed for. they are accurate using the POA method to. Comes apart with ease, nothing to these lcp really.

I've had a few FTF's with FMJ's but then I changed brands and didn't have any last time I took it to range (out of 70 rounds the last time, a couple light-srike's and/or dud rounds, but nothing I can fault the gun on given what the manual has to say about trigger pull - read the manual especially if you practice rapid firing, double taps, etc).

Using Winchester SXT and Federal Hydrashock JHP's I haven't had a single jam yet after putting roughly 60 rounds through the LCP (they're more expensive, but well worth the testing given these are what I like to carry loaded).

I bought one 2 mo. ago at a gun show. $300, no tax. Took it and my KT P3AT to my range and compared them. I give the edge to the LCP. Slightly more accurate, having thicker grip is more comfortable to shoot. With factory ammo the felt recoil in both is Brutal. I loaded some ammo with 95gr FMJ and 2.0gr Bullseye for practice. Almost no recoil, perfect function, and they are fun to shoot. S&B FMJ is my carry load.

I know it's not a target pistol. I just prefer "dot the i" sights on a short range weapon. This type of sight makes target acquisition much faster, which is a definite bonus on a subcompact. Either way with the LCP it looks like you can't change them. This would normally be a deal breaker for me, but there isn't much to chose from in this "pocket pistol" category. I have also been looking into the NAA Guardian .380.

Mine is in the hundreds with 0 FTF/FTE. No malfs. of any kind. Variety of ammo (including homeloads) function is great.

I don't know if this matters anymore, and I wish I was better at this computer thing so I could post pictures. Ruger changed the physical structure of the gun after some production. There's a little notch taken out of the rail on the redesigned guns. Oh crap! Somebody who knows more about this stuff (how to explain or post picks) should take over here...

Anyway, I doubt if any of the original guns are still being sold as new.

Got mine about a month ago and I love it. Only put about 75 rounds through it so far but no problems at all. For such a small gun I am very impressed with the accuracy I get out to 10 yards.

If finish and styling are your concerns then get the LCP. If ugly purpose is your game then just stick with the Kel-Tec.

Its too bad that the LCPs are on such a brutal back order.

As for sights, Crimson Trace makes a laser for it.

Just put a Gold Dot on the red dot!

I like mine. I got a fairly early production model and there was an issue with peening on the frame during ejection. Ruger was aware of the problem, which has been discussed in detail on the Ruger Forum. Some folks did their own mod with a Dremel or jeweler's file, but I sent it back to Ruger and they milled out a little corner, polished the feed ramp, and shipped it back. I understand that later production guns all have the mod.

I only fired it after it came back from Ruger. I've probably put 200+ rounds of Speer Lawman through it without a hiccup. The mag could use a fingertip extension for better grip. Some people are making their own, using modified Kel-Tec or other parts. I'm sure there will be an aftermarket extension before too long.

Over 500 rounds of various types of ammo (mostly JHP) with no problems at all. After getting use to the trigger I do really well at 7 yards point and shoot drills. I really like the 102gr. Remington GS. Great care anywhere gun.

I also own one and love it. Carry it daily. Mine shoots a bit low left, however, manage to keep a shot group of about 3" at 7 yards in the ring! As for sights, I purchased a product called "NITESITERS," easy to put on and they haven't fallen off yet. There is also a product called "DAYSITERS" which are colored little dots.

Mine has been 100% reliable with everything but Corbon. It has a bit less recoil than the P3AT and a more comfortable grip but the P3AT does have better sights. I put a coat of yellow point on the front sight and white paint under the notch of the rear. Just put one square on top of the other and it works great. I carry my LCP in a DeSantis pocket holster with a double mag pouch made out of a cheap nylon holster. It works really well.
Here is a link to the setup I use. I carry Federal Hydrashoks in it and I feel very confident that it would be just fine as a defensive piece.

Mine is great! Had it since April when they came out. Probably 600rds through it. Had one or two jams with crappy reloads, but it's been 100% with factory ammo, including my carry ammo: Remington 102gr. Golden Sabres.

Better reliability than I can say for the Sig I bought to be its big brother... ;(

I have to correct my self. My LCP doesn't seem to care too much for the Remington FMJ either. It feeds WWB and Federal just fine though.

I have had mine for a few weeks now. Has 200 rounds of wwb FMJ through it without a single problem. Corbon on the other hand is to long for my barrel. Some have had a problem with this, but ruger will give you a new barrel if you send them yours.
