I didn't see any mention of an AR15 anywhere......the comment was made on the news report that a AR15 was used by the homeowner.

Yes to the reporter by the brother of the victim. Does it make it any less creditable if it's not printed in the article?

Totally speculating, but if the home owner is an upstanding citizen, he could be a business man who resisted against paying extortion/protection money to a gang.

Just acting like and looking like an upstanding person can provoke those goons. They do not even have to be gang members.

There has to be more to this story.nm

The information given in the links would indicate to me the homeowner is either a targeted victim of a gang or involved in a gang himself.

There will be more to this in the future in either case. The rest of the crew of the guys in the car will not let this go at this. The homeowner will need to be on guard for some time. They will strike when he is more vulnerable.

Another reason why in regard to handguns, yes, your ammo should be effective against badguys in vehicles. I am not going to debate that subject here and divert the thread - just mentioning it so those reading it can keep it in mind for OTHER threads.

And yes, rifles are the first choice in self defense. Your handgun is to get you to your rifle, or make do if you do not have a rifle handy.

I digress.. True what you said.... BUT your handgun get's you to YOUR SHOTGUN
in CQB..

Just sayin'

A gunfight with multiple shooters in a residential neighborhood at 3:30 AM.
Some people might not see this as a pro-gun story.

Why was the homeowner outside at 3:30 am with a AR 15? Looks like he was expecting someone.
You don't normally do sentry patrols of your front yard at 3am?

Amateur :p

Sorry; Smokey the bear and Bandit the raccoon only raid the bird feeders, if I open the door they just run no firefights.

Until more info comes out I take it at face value that a man defended his home/himself/family. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he had a connection with the would-be shooters or if it were completely random, but there's not enough info to jump to conclusions.

Well, regardless of why, if someone attempts to set your house on fire, he probably knows the reason why and perhaps expected another attempt.

That would keep me on my guard the next night, and many subsequent nights.

sounds like the guy had a big unpaid drug purchase cause that is gang style attack on him

Little more information.

4th suspect arrested, not injured.

Homeowners case is going to be sent to a grand jury, according to a later police report.

Hoping more will come out and we find out what brought this on.

I believe within a certain period of time the police report will be available as publicly accessible information if a judge doesn't seal it for a particular reason.

For those that think the world we live in is a safe place, think again.
Most people think that the Thugs they see in gang shows on TV are far from where they are, when most often they are closer to you than you think.

Here is a link to a video on Youtube. These are not actors and the video was not made by some Hollywood film crew. It is raw footage of some of the thugs here in the city of Baton Rouge, LA.
WARNING!!If you don't like foul language do not click on the link. WARNING!!!!!

They talk about shooting the MFs that wear vest. Those MFs are me and my co workers.
These people live in a different world then you and I. It just so happens that I have to go into their world to do my job.
The sad thing is that there are good people that live where the not so nice people like to play.
For the last four days I've been working 12 hour shifts from 6 pm to 6 am on the Northside of our city. I went out on over 45 calls everything from alarms, burglaries, driver by shootings, domestic fights, armed robbery, and shots fired calls. We also had a homicide last night. And two days ago we had a 12 year old killed because him and his two friends were playing with a gun they had stolen.
It's nothing to see people with nothing to do walking around at 2 and 3 in the morning.

The one good thing I can say about this story is , homeowner wins, bad guys loose.

"It's nothing to see people with nothing to do walking around at 2 and 3 in the morning."

If you drive through "bad" neighborhoods in the middle of the night, you might be surprised at the things you see. I worked as a firefighter/paramedic (now retired) and it was very common to run a call at 0200 and see kids playing outside by themselves. Unsupervised. Every single night.

This was usually something people who were new to the profession always commented on. "why do people call us in the middle of the night. They should be in bed asleep.............." And I would explain the obvious to them: when you don't work, and you don't really do anything responsible with your life, 0200 is no different from 1400. In fact, after drinking and getting high all night, a lot of these people don't wake up until late afternoon. They don't have anywhere they need to be. Going to the hospital for the most trivial thing or getting arrested really doesn't put much of a curve in their lives: that just means they will miss sitting on the couch watching TV and getting drunk and high for a few hours.

For the vast majority of people, they just can't grasp the fact that just because they have a certain lifestyle that not everybody conducts their lives like they do. Other people don't think like you, they don't act like you, they don't have the same value system you do. They don't live like you do. When you use your own idea of what is "normal" you are leaving a lot out of the discussion.

This of course also doesn't take into account the fact that a LOT of people don't work in an office Monday-Friday 9 to 5. Lots of people work various shifts including night shifts. When they have a day off, them being up and active in the middle of the night is just their "normal". And they arn't doing anything criminal.

I have a job that requires me to drive around the city at all hours of the night. At first I was really surprised by the number of people just wandering around the city in the wee hours. I remember driving through a parking lot one night with 8 or 10 homeless people parked together (for protection) in their cars. It was like driving through a neighborhood.

If he was, he was correct in his assumption. I have to wonder how many of his rounds made it past his intended target to the properties across the street?

Some of y'all need to get out of the basement and go outside once in a while. Since we don't know the entire story and since wild speculation does no good, and since we can not stay on topic at all, this one is done. Bashing, of any sort, will not be tolerated.
