No AR mag converters for AUGs.
That's not actually correct, or at least there used to be a conversion available... I've only seen pictures, but it absolutely was an AR15 mag conversion doohickie... I believe it was in a very old gunrag article by Mass Ayoob... He calls his AUG "Ayoob's Ugly Gun".

Any updates? I am dying for an Aug, I must have one. Its like when I was obsessed with getting a Galil...only worse.:)

I did shoot one of the .223 AUG variants a few years ago -- interesting, but I still wonder what happens when a case head lets go:what:

And I still think the FAL is the only pretty assault rifle ever made.:neener:

They have an AUG at one of the local gun shops (Cheaper Than Dirt) $2500 if anyone wants it  You couldn't pay me to own a bullpup though

Wow, $2500 for an AUG is a great price. You sure it wasn't a USR? If I didn't blow all my money on a machinegun I'd get that Steyr in a heartbeat.

Everyone else is wanting $3200-6000 for their pre-ban AUGs. $2500 is high for a USR, I saw one for sale for $2000 on another forum.

I'm not positive, is there anything that distinguishes the USR? It looks like every other AUG I've ever seen

The USRs are post-ban so they have a straight barrel with no flash hider and there is an extra plastic strip behind the pistol grip to make it a 'butthole' stock.

since the AUG fires the same round as the AR15, does not take the same mags, and will never have wide spread availability, and it does nothing at all better than an AR, I don't see any reason to buy one. They look 'cool', wow.

DSA has just reported that STEYR dropped the ball.

A domestic AUG is no longer a possibility at this time.

Good day chaps!

[I'm on the far right, the guy with the Steyr and the k-pot attached to the vest.]

I liked the Steyr AUG, it was a decent weapon. Weight was ok, lil heavier than I'd prefer. With practice, mag changes weren't that bad. I'm not a complete fan of the way the 40mm grenade launcher attaches straight onto the barrel. It catches on stuff when you move around.

Decently reliable. Not too hard to control on "rock n' roll" mode. Stock optics are decent for general issue. I prefer the dual optics on the G36.

Is it the best service rifle I've handled? No. Did I prefer it to an M4? Ehhh, it'd be a toss up. I'd definitely rather have an AUG over an M16A2 or a stock AR15.

All and all, a very nice service rifle. Not the best, but far from the worst.

No, but they are talking about a belt fed semi FN-MAG.

They have had the design approved the the BATFE tech branch and are waiting on production quotes before committing to the project.

My wallet is open and waiting .........

Be still, my heart. :D Go Dave Selvaggio! Bullpups ars sweet. I wonder how it'll stack up to the Bushmaster M17s?

Red$tinger.308,

re-read the post. They are make a Semi FN-MAG, belt fed 308.

A semi version of this.

Not an AUG. The AUG project dead.

Now, between that and a new FN SCAR Heavy I should be set.

FN - MAG is a m240 right?? that would be sweet but id much prefer an FN- MINIMI (m249) MUCH SWEETER !!!!!! Is there anything such as a semi civ legal Minimi........never seen one.

I got a pamphlet at the Steyr-Mannlicher booth at the NRA convention last week which indicated they will be selling an AUG in the US next year. The booth rep said they would be producing it domestically to avoid the import ban. Picture of the pamphlet here.

Also, I talked to a booth rep for FN Herstal, and he said that he was 90% sure that FN would be producing a semi-auto SCAR-L and SCAR-H for civilian sale. Nothing official though.

Sorry,

That takes you to the front of their search engine. It's a java thing.

Do a search for:

STEYR AUG STOCK ASSY BLK M-16 MAG

CleverNickname, let me be the first to say: WOOT.

$1500 list price, so retail will probably come down to $1300 or so. Still pricey, but a whole lot cheaper than buying a real AUG.

I love Steyr.

I just hope they make one that isn't 90% rails like the one in the picture.

Steyr makes a "Nato Mag" stock for the AUG. These are imported from time to time and take M16 mags. The price seems to vary considerably.

I'm glad they are planning to make the FN belt fed. At least that will be legal in Kali. Our state legislators in their infinate wisdom :banghead: :banghead: think a Tec-9 is more dangerous than a Belt Fed squad type weapon.
