Everyone Should Own

Not a bad list. I've got everything on the list with the caveat that my Marlin lever gun is in .357 magnum. If your 30-30 was as your hunting weapon I'd substitute a 30.06 Bolt gun with scope for my part of the country. (Montana).

As to additions, I'd not want to give up owning an AR/AK for serious social work, a hi-cap 9mm or .40 for same, and a small auto or snubbie for concealed carry.

I own:

CZ-75 9mm
Remington 870 12 gauge
Marlin 60 in .22
Mossy ATR-100 in .30-06.

I really don't care for the 10-22. At all. Any. Whatsoever.
I would have to spend a disproportionate amount of time learning to shoot a .44 Magnum, I'm a really little guy.

Bolt action .22
Pump 12 guage
Bolt action Centerfire
Semi Auto centerfire rifle
Centerfire revolver

a servicable 22lr rifle.
a servicable 12 gage shotgun
a servicable and accurate centerfire rifle from 243- 30 cal whatever.
a servicable AR in 5.56
at least one good scope and rings.
earmuffs plus ear plugs
cleaning kit
ammo

Everyone can own whatever he likes. I buy what I like. The 1911 I agree with, but only from a limited number of makers. I have no need or desire for a .30/30 of any make. I prefer different makes for the other categories.

ME! ME! I HAVE ROOM IN MY SAFE!! SEND A SET!! I like all of those. :D

Thats a good list. I have one or two that line up close to those.

Mark

I would add:

1) M1 Garand
2) Colt AR-15
3) S&W Model 686
4) S&W Model 649
5) Ruger Mk.II .22 Target
6) Browning Hi-Power

Have the 12ga and the ruger...

Here in NY getting a pistol permit is a b***h. Otherwise I would agree. How ever I think every one should own an EBR.....

I've owned all those guns.
I still have the Mossberg 500, S&W 629, and 1911A1
I would add a S&W M41 .22 pistol, a Glock 9mm, M1 Garand, a .22 rifle of whatever type floats your boat, and an AR15/M16 type rifle.

I'd swap a Remington 870 for the Mossberg (not knocking Mossberg - I own one - but the 870 is the standard against which other pump actions are compared).

Add a bolt action in .308 or 30-06. Savage maybe?

Also a 9mm - Glock 19, or if you're nostalgic, Browning Hi-Power.

And, you need a wheel gun in .357 magnum. Ruger GP100 or a S&W.

Worst list I've read on this forum and that is saying something. The only thing on it I own or would own is the Mossberg and you had a 50/50 chance on that one. No carry gun, no evil black rifle. Are you aware its a new century? Your list seems to be from the 70s or 80s.

Good start with that list. I'd add a BHP, a 92FS, a S&W 3913, an AK47 and maybe an M1A.

Les

I guess I'll go with:
1) 2 pistols (S&W revolver, 1911, Glock or Beretta in whatever caliber 9mm-.45; and a .22LR)
2) .22 rifle (servicable, whatever floats your boat)
3) Shotgun (12ga pump or auto; bare minimum a 500 or 870)
4) "Deer" rifle (prefered bolt action in a larger centerfire, >.25, or .mil surp like a M1)
5) 1 multi purpose centerfire, read: defense, plinking, fun gun (AR/AK/SKS)

ETA: issue with number 5 is they tend to multiply like rabbits, so if you have 2 keep them apart and leave no spare parts just laying around loose unless you want a gunsafe full... second thought, n/m.

lol come on man... in a SHTF scenario you could saw off the barrel on the lever-action, as well as the sleeves to your jean jacket, and ride into town on your vintage harley, beat up some long-hairs and generally cause a ruckus

Maybe you have a point. Add a Barrett 82A1 to the list.

here here!

a gun
maybe more than one
many more

in whatever flavor floats their boat

if there was only X approved list, we wouldn't have all the great guns we do now. Maybe we would have stopped at the Brown Bess, after all, everybody should have one of those, the did serve for close to 300 years..........

My idea of a basic firearms toolkit:

1) .22 rifle or handgun
2) shotgun - 12 or 20 gauge
3) centerfire rifle suitable for taking deer-sized game
4) handgun in a decent defensive caliber

Action and cartridge, as well as order of importance, depend on user circumstances and preferences.

Family Feud

Lets play family feud with the OP's list.
-A Ruger 10/22: We also would have accepted Savage MkII, various brand AR-22's, or GSG-522

-1911 45 acp: We also would have accepted Glock 30, Glock 21, or S&W M&P

-Marlin Lever Action 30/30: We also would have accepted M1A, AR-10, or Remington 700

-Mossberg 500 12 ga: We also would accepted Remington 870 or Benelli Nova

-S&W Model 29 44 mag: We also would have accepted Colt Python

A Colt SAA
A Colt 1911 in 45 acp
A Winchester Lever Action
A Shotgun
A modern rifle based on the AR or Ak designs

and a good 9mm - my preference being a high power.

Add to that; no one should own a S&W with a lock, a ruger or any firearm made in S America and we're good.
