Hey I needed the laugh I got from this thread. It may not be exactly what the question was but here's my story.
A few years ago me and a co-worker planed a trip to south Alabama on a deer hunt. Now I mainly wanted to go to take a deer with a pistol. We loaded up and headed out on a road trip. Now the part of the state we were in was amazing to say the least. I loved it, a real outdoorsman dream, hunters everywhere, guns everywhere, man, I felt warm and fuzzy. So anyway, the guy we hooked up with to be our guide of sorts was explaining to us that it was "cool" to carry pistols, rifles, knives, whatever too and from hunting locales in plain sight and its pretty much commonplace that time of year. Now I got this 8 inch hand cannon of a revolver on my side while eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the local "greasy spoons," in and out of the grocery store, and checking out of the hotel...not even a second look.
The last day we were there, Sunday, we packed the truck, checked out, hunted most of the day then headed out to drive most of the night to get back to work Monday morning. I didnt even change out of almost full camo with muddy boots and all. I did however securely store and lock my revolver in my truck but I just left the holster on my belt. After driving a while we stopped to eat at Ihop or maybe Dennys I think in Chatanooga. My shirt had came untucked and was covering the top of the holster but most of it was visible. You should have seen the face on the nineteen year old peace loving waiter that asked "... is that a knife or somethin?" and I replied "naw...a gun.
"
Looking back I guess I should of showed that I didn't actually have the gun on me but boy, did we get served fast.
