Favorite rifle and favorite cartridge

Why do we have to have a favorite. I love all my children! Each have their own personalities and gifts and shine in different situations. I just can't choose.

It is hard to pick one. I will say that one rifle I really love to shoot is my 1908 vintage
Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55. I found this gun years ago and it is in really nice shape.
Barrel is clean with bright and sharp rifling.
I use it with it's iron sights and have shot sub MOA groups with it using hand loads and
120 gr Nosler bullets. The other rifle I love is another old one. A 1930 vintage
Persian Mauser in 8x57. It looks to have never been issued and it too
can shoot MOA groups. Again, I hand load for this Brno made Mauser.
Both these guns are the long versions with barrels almost 30" long.
In the USA, i don't see a lot of people shooting either
6.5x55 or 8mm Mauser but both cartridges in a good rifle
are very accurate. I guess I just like the feel and quality of these old Mauser
battle rifles. I like the look on people's faces when they look at the Persian Mauser
and realise all the markings on the sights and receiver are in farsi.

1. 7mm Mauser. To me the perfect round. Plenty powerful, accurate, and not so much recoil as to make it a chore to shoot. Only thing I hate is it's fall from popularity making it hard to find. End up ordering on line, and having less choices. Really wish this one had stood the test of time better. Makes me want to get into reloading. It's the perfect cartridge. No wonder so many others are based off it.
There's your solution right there. You need to do it.

Ooh. This is easy, but keep in mind I'm "that guy" at the range who likes volume of fire and shoots offhand almost exclusively anymore. Favorite rifle to shoot for a long time now has been a scoped pencil barrel mini-14 ranch rifle. It's an ugly duckling, does not shoot tiny groups, and does not do anything better than pretty much anything else. But it's comfortable to shoot offhand and first shot hits on clay pidgeons at 100 to 125 yards is completely normal. Banging plates with the AR kids is fun and easy with the A-team special so what's not to love?
