the 308 is just fun, lots of bullet choices, plenty of brass, good hunting cartridge out to about 500yds as long as I have accurate range and a decent wind call, also very capable target rifle out to about 1000 yds

oh, and the barrels last forever (5k-10k rounds)

My most favorite rifle is a long, heavy barrel AR-15. I have six. 17 Remington (24”), 204 Ruger (24” and 26”), 223 Remington (24”), 22 Nosler (24”), and 22x6.8 (24”). Each tip the scales around 11-12 lbs empty.

All were built with prairie dogs in mind but only the 26” 204 Ruger has faced off against the pesky varmint.

My favorite cartridge is the 221 Remington Fireball. It is a spunky little cartridge that hits above its weight and is just cool. Besides a Remington 700 chambered in it, I have a 22” Bullberry Contender carbine chambered in 221 Remington Fireball that produces some of the smallest groups of any of my rifles.

If I define my favorite rifle in terms of the number of examples that I own, then it’s by far the AR15. If I define favorite in terms of the one(s) that make me feel most satisfied when shooting it, then it’s probably the Sig Cross.

My favorite round is probably the 257 Roberts, again if I use “what do I shoot the most of” as the metric. But I will also confess that I have a secret and torrid flame for the 257 Weatherby, despite the constraints that it places on the platform and as archaic and inefficient as it is.

Yeppers, my favorite big game rifle is the one I had custom built by Montana Rifle Company when I retired. I don't know if it even has a model name or number, but it looks like a "beefed up" Model 70, and it's chambered for my favorite big game cartridge - the .308 Norma Magnum of course.
On the other hand, my favorite small game (as well as ground squirrels, jack rabbits and assorted pests) rifle is a Kimber bolt, and it's chambered for the .22LR - my favorite "small game, as well as ground squirrels, jack rabbits and assorted pests" cartridge.
On the other, other hand, I still have my first "real gun" - the "22" (a Model 55 Winchester) my mom and dad gave me for my 10th birthday over 63 years ago. So it's pretty hard for me to not think of that as my favorite rifle and cartridge of all time.;)
Unfortunately montana rifle company closed its doors due to bad financial management (spending more then the company makes is never good buisness sense )

My favorite rifle? My favorite cartridge? Much like picking a favorite child!

The pistol I carry most and like the best for personal defense is a Colt (lightweight) Commander in .45 ACP. It has ample horsepower, and it generally easy to conceal on my person. However, my dearest type of handgun is a pinned barrel Smith & Wesson revolver. They just feel right. I like all of them; can't select just one.

Rifles? I prefer a bolt action rifle with wood stock in any number of calibers. My favorite centerfire calibers are the vintage 6.5mm (Swede, Mannlicher-Schonauer, Mannlicher (rimmed), 7x57mm Mauser and .257 Roberts. I have a feeling for .303 British as well. I do have some large game rifles, but they hurt too much to shoot, so they're not my favorites.
Yeah, I have a .22 long rifle. It's a Zastava (made in the past and marked "Yugoslavia") and built like a grown up rifle. It's mostly for fun and I do some local target shooting with it.

Shotguns? What's a shotgun?

They are a lot of fun aren't they? it was the Stevens 325 for a couple years then the Savage 340 then the Springfield 840. Only Stevens and Savage come in 30-30. A limited number of the Springfields were made in .225 Winchester that's the one I really want. The Stevens 322 is the 22 hornet version of mine.
Just an FYI.....the 840 did come in 30-30. I have one.

Winchester model 70 featherweight . I've got 3 of them , but my favorite is a 6.5 x 55 . had it over 20 years , taken a lot of deer , antelope ,coyotes , and a couple or few elk cows . Always say it kicks like a .243 and hits like a .270 .

Saw one locally - a featherweight in Swede. Surprisingly it was $1,600. They sure have gone up in value. A great looking gun with a superior caliber....

I could have easily picked my Mausingfield .308 as well. It was my first custom rifle. Made NRA High Master shooting it in F Class matches then my daughter took it over and also made High Master with it.

LOL- my rifles are like my kids- can't pick a favorite......love them all for what they are-.

...each one is unique... and has a special purpose in this world! ....even if they are similar to the other- .....won't trade them for anything
