For hunting deer the 270 is my pick
I am very fond of the 6.5x55 and the
guns that shoot it.
I am trying to learn to use the 257
Weatherby round but am far from mastering it as of now.
Just got my first 308 Win rifle and am getting used to the thump.
For precision bullet placement the 22-250 and 243 as well as the 25-06 would be my pick, excellent neck shot cartridges for putting meat on the table.

Favorite Rifle Cartridge?

My vote goes to the .223 Rem, followed by the .308 Win. With those two calibers you can do most anything you wish.

Merry Christmas.

I can tell that there are a lot of pretty intelligent types out there based on the true test of an intelligent man is how much he agrees with you.

.22 rimfire

.223

.308

The 22LR is a favorite -- but I have to admit that have a soft spot for the 300 Savage! Yeah, that's right the 300 Savage!
30 M1 is always fun to shoot.
223 is Ok but I will have to get a better trigger in my Ruger 77 mkll before I can really enjoy it.
106 Recoilless is my favorite big bore.
Whaddya Say!

Outright favourite, 303 Brit from of over half a century of familiarity. 22lr for most used currently, Win 243 as most effective hunting round (not in current inventry) and 7.5x54mm MAS as latest discovery.
6.5x55mm and 223 Rem are very effective but have not captured my affection, as yet.

Couldn't choose a favorite unless I knew for what purpose. But it would probably one of these three:

22LR

30-06

223

Based on what i have:

1. 6.5x55 - best over all, lite recoil, from
P. Dogs thru Elk, 55gr. thru 160gr.

2. 270 My goto if the 6.5 is out of order

3. 243 Lite recoil

4. 7.62x39 Cheap ammo, lite recoil, my
Fun Gun....

5. 8mm (8x57) Cheap ammo, bear & pig
rifle, 125gr. thru 220gr.

Number one has to be 6.5X55
Next is the .303
Fun to reload is the .308
Can't forget the great .22 for all around fun !

I like that new 7.62X63 round, supposed to be the "be-all end-all" cartridge ;)
