You shooting a squirrel? lol I don't think my arm goes that high when I shoot full-house .44 mag loads with my left hand.
Nah. 360gr cast performance with 17.2gr. Lil'gun. That's a friend of mine shooting, I advised him of the recoil and I think he said "OH that can't be that bad, I'm gonna do it one handed" and then did. He thought it wasn't too bad but when we got back in the car and his hand warmed back up (it was 35 degrees that day) he complained of his wrist hurting. Can't say I didn't warn him!

4 5/8 inch Blackhawk 45/45 convertible. My clear number one, even if only by a nose.

USFA Single Action. I have several, and really can't pick an individual favorite. I have a couple of Colt SAAs, too, and a Ruger Montado and Bisley.

Favorite?

That would be a Colt SAA (or accurate replica), in .44 Special, case-colored frame and good bluing, with replaceable-blade fully adjustable sights that don't make the gun mule's-butt ugly, at a fair production price from my FLGS.

Too bad nobody actually makes such a piece.

I have a number of the Ruger OM 3 screw Blackhawks. My "Go To" is a 4 5/8" in 45 Colt. Just love that gun!

Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in .45 Colt. I hope to buy one soon if I can find a used one at a decent price.
What's the deal with the safety refurbish? Why would you not do it?
This is not a question where I disagree with you. It really is one that I really have no idea what it even entails.
There's a Super Blackhawk .44 for sale here that's had the safety job. It's a really good price and I'm thinking about it. What are the disadvantages?

My 35 yr old 45 convertable Blackhawk, My first single action and still my favorite.

Arkansas Paul, the safety conversion adds the transfer bar and several different internal parts. It's really a matter of personal preference but IMHO the original lockwork is much smoother and the loading gate aligns properly with the cylinder hole. The transfer bar conversion allows you to safely carry 6 cartridges where on an original Old Model Blackhawk the chamber under the hammer is left empty when carrying to avoid an acccidental discharge.

I have a new model Blackhawk convertible .357/.38/9mm and its an absolute dream to shoot. I like the transfer bar system, I understnd other don't. The only thing I don't like is that 115gr ammo tends to keyhole. 147gr performs good though.

Thanks Jimbo. I had heard that you didn't need to rest the hammer on an empty chamber anymore. I guess that's why. Seems like that would be a good thing, but then again, I'll be using mine for hunting. If five shots won't do it, I doubt the sixth is going to make a difference.

Tough choices. Let me think about it. My newest is my Gouse engraved Skeeter Skelton tribute .44 Special Blackhawk....

But when it comes to Rugers, my Flannery engraved Single Six is always fun to shoot with its elephant ivory handles....

My Bob Munden Custom Cimarron 1872 Open Top .44 Special is a hoot to shoot with its 1 1/2 trigger pull....

My pair of AWA Peacekeepers are super slick and look great with their genuine case hardened frames in .44 Special....

Of course there's nothing quite like a .44 Special Colt SAA, especially if it has American Elk handles from Patrick "Executioner" Grashorn....

The S&W Performance Center Schofield 2000 is pretty neat though too....

Hmmmmm. After careful consideration, I'm going with the Ruger Blackhawk for right now!

I've only got four SA revolvers, two Bisley Blackhawks and a pair of USFA Rodeos all .45 Colt or .45 Colt/.45 ACP and both pairs are sequentially numbered ... :). I like them all but if I had to choose just one of what I have it'd be one of the Bisley Blackhawks since they'll handle anything from mild to wild and the extra cylinder is useful. I would really like one of those Freedom Arms beasts in .454 Casull and a 4" stainless Blackhawk (pre-lock model) in .45 colt and that should just about do it.

:)

Have to go with the Bisley Blackhawk (stainless).

I have them in .44 magnum (Hunter model) and .357 magnum (special edition).

For my hands, the Bisley grip fits like a glove and it tames even the nastiest .44 magnum bruin type loads.

Plus, to my eyes the Bisley is a very elegant looking design.

My favorite is this 1851 colt. second generation fairly low serial no. At least I think it's low. 48xx
I used to shoot it a lot.

I used to shoot a lot of different guns when I was younger. but haven't shot any thing but my Ruger single six 22 in 32 years. All others haven't been out of the safe since then till now. I want to start shooting again. I guess I'm a little behind on whats new.

mm6mm6, that is a fine collection of six-guns. I especially like the Bob Munden Custom job. That's awesome. I love old stuff and the look of those cap and ball conversions makes me all giddy inside.

Favorite single action is my Ruger Bisley Blackhawk Convertible .45 colt/.45acp- stainless, 5 1/2" barrel, adjustable sights. A close second is my Bisley Vaquero .45colt 5 1/2" blue, fixed sight.
