So many people don't realize that you can open Pandora's box if you're as pure as wind blown snow.


And the police aren't there "to get you" either. They're there to get all the facts straight. If your straight facts don't jibe with Snidly Snake's crooked facts, then if there's really something dangerous happening you might both wind up in the cell block, and you as innocent as sweet Polly Pure Heart.

It's the LEO's job to make the arrest. It's the courts job to determine guilt. The guilt/innocence part comes months/years/dollars later.
